2388.0. "MicroEmacs 3.10 supports Amiga & Mouse" by PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ (Jeff Lomicka) Wed Mar 22 1989 15:57

Microemacs 3.10 is now available. New with 3.10 is fairly complete
Amiga support. The whole kit is in PRNSYS::RELEASED_TOOLS:[MICROEMACS],
but please read conference VSG::MICROEMACS topic 80 if you want more
information.

    I have always been confused with MicroEmacs. How does this version
    differ from the one that came with my V1.3 Enhancer?
2388.2any better than micro-gnu emacs?ALAZIF::WHERRYCelebrate Gotham's TricentennialThu Mar 23 1989 18:185

2388.3I'm not familiar with the other variationsPRNSYS::LOMICKAJJeff LomickaMon Mar 27 1989 15:0210
My suggest to both of you is to read
PRNSYS::RELEASED_TOOLS:[MICROEMACS]EMACS.TXT, and perhaps download
MEAMIGA. try it, and decide for yourself if this is a step up or
down from whatever you are running now. In either case, I'd like to
know what you decide.

I have heard that micro-gnu is an earlier version of Microemacs modified
to have more GNU-like bindings. If this is true, the microemacs will
gain you a reasonable extension language for making further
customizations of your own.
2388.4I can't run the Amiga version of MicroEmacsCSOA1::LENDavid M. LenTue Jul 18 1989 02:1512
    I have downloaded MEAMIGA from PRNSYS:: and I am unable to run it.
    My "file" utility indicates that it is an executable object, but
    when I try to run it, I get an error indicating that it is not an
    executable object.

    Have any of you been successful at running this version?

    BTW: I have a 2000 running ARP 1.3 with 1.3 AmigaDOS and 1.3 ROMS,
    3MB, 2 floppies, and a ST296N disk with Microbotics Hardframe
    controller.

2388.5I should of read some documentation firstCSOA1::LENDavid M. LenTue Jul 18 1989 03:519
    I guess I should of read the documentation first. Note 80 in the
    MicroEmacs note file stated that xmodem could not be used on the
    execuable file, but VMS arc could. So I arc'd the file, then used
    xmodem to download it, and finally un-arc'd the file on the Amiga.
    And it ran fine.

    It does not seem to support any menu bar, and the key binding are
    different (^Z is top of buffer, and ^C seems to insert a space).
    But, I plan on researching further.
