2350.0. "Whats a fair price?" by CANIS::RIES (Frank W. Ries Jr.) Fri Mar 10 1989 19:21

Here's a question for all you Amiga experts out there. What is a reasonable
price for a 10 month old A500 with A501? I am looking for an A500 to use as
a second machine (I already have an A2000) for some communications software
I am thinking of writing. I don't want to spend too much for it, and I don't
need a monitor or any software. A friend of a friend has one for sale, but
doesn't know what he wants for it, wants me to make an offer. But what is
a fair offer?

    My rule of thumb on used equipment in good shape is 50% of new price.
    (Not new list price, new mail-order price, since you aren't buying it
    through a dealer.)

    Yeah, 50% is what I use as a guideline. Items that I sell usually
    move pretty quickly at that price. You can ask for more, but it
    will take longer to find a chump.
