2157.0. "New MachII" by MTWAIN::MACDONALD (WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25) Wed Jan 25 1989 12:43

Yet another MachII. This time V2.5 and Brian has removed the Setup
facility into a separate task to cut down on required memory.

2157.3MachII related system hangs???ATLV5::MCDONALD_JSurly to bed, surly to rise...Wed May 03 1989 04:2827
Anyone having any strange system crashes that may be linked to MachII? I've
recently started running it instead of QMouse. I'm also running Nag1.7, and I
leave my 2000 on all the time. The other day, I set up the computer to Nag
me at noon about something. The Nag never went off. When I checked the
system out later that afternoon, it was hung... completely.

A day or two later, I sat down to work at my Amy, and it was hung again... same
way. System appears to be on, but screen is blank and nothing brings it back.

The thing that makes me think MachII has something to do with it is this. I
was up late the other night watching a movie. The computer's in the great room
near the TV. At exactly 12:00 computer time, the A2000 screen started
flashing, the power light began blinking, and the system went into this
mysterious hung state again.

I'm thinking this may be somehow related to an earlier note which cited
problems with multiple tasks trying to grab control of the sound device at the
same time. Could this be the case? Is there anything I can do to get MachII
to NOT beep at all... not even at midnight? Or could this maybe be the spooks
from Poltergeist, the movie. We've got a rather small and old TV set, so I
guess I can understand how any really 'fashion concious' ghost would rather
come in through my new multisync monitor instead. (Gee, I hope it's not
ghosts. It'll be a real pain in the borboosa trying to run Starglider II with
GHOSTS mucking up my screen!)

I've run into a BLUE screen problem ... but I have never been around
    when it happens.

I have MachII V2.5, NAG Plus V3.0, and SpudClock all running.

Did you say you never experienced the problem when QMouse was running?

Re .3

I haven't had any strange crashes with the latest MACHII. If it is related to
the audio port contention, my setup would not see it as I set the timer for
beep in MACHII to 0 to get rid of it. I have virusx, machII running in
background using ARUN from ARP1.3 and usually leave some stray
games/tools/terminal-emulator going 24 hours a day with MACHII blanking my
screen for me.

I did, however, run into a resource contention the other day where I was
trying to run the recently posted VideoPoker while I had Smokey1.1a doing a
download. Since Smokey takes the audio port, VideoPoker hangs and won't allow
any action including quit until it can get the port.

Also MACHII does not work and play well with MAZE on FF171. Keeps throwing my
active screen to back.
