Does somebody know if a spreadsheet exists in the public domain

One of early Fish Disks had a simple minded spreadsheet on it.
There is also a Matrix Math Package free here in the notes. Are
you rolling your own? Interfacing with AREXX?

If you have WordPerfect, column math is built-in.

Umm.... I guess you should just look. Is zero dollars all your
    looking for?

Fish disk 144 has Analyticalc. I have not used it. As I recall
from the writeup it is fairly extensive but not mouse oriented.
There may be an update on a newer fish disk.

AC had a program called "BSPREAD" in it about 6 mo. ago. The
article they wrote with the program made it sound as good as most
non pd ones. The big drawback is it is a very long program which
was in very small type in the mag. I typed in about 1/3 of it in
before I gave up. Maybe you could order that issue on disk for a
few bucks. I know that you can get AC on disk but I'm not sure about
    getting just one issue.
Maybe someone else has used this program.
    Good Luck!

That program comes along on the AC-Basic Compiler diskette. It's
    well written and works great.

Saw the FF list last night. The spreadsheet on FF144 looks great.
The source is there and claims functionality beyond most sheets.

It must be big! Its' all by itself on the disk (ARCd')

    Re: .2,.5

I have tried to use analyticalc. I am in need of a spreadsheet also.
However, analyticalc seems to have several problems. First, you
must have at least 1 meg to run it and the workbench MUST be in
interlace mode. When you finally get the program to run it has a
habit of crashing frequently. The screen updates are extremely slow.
If you try to use the calculator feature(invoked by the 'K' command)
you get a bunch of garbage on the screen that scrolls forever.

In all, a very good idea with a lot of features, but after several
tries over several months all I managed to do is become EXTREMELY
    FRUSTRATED!!

I've used a rather simple but useful spreadsheet named 'VC'.
This came from Dave Wecker's directory...I don't remember if
it's 100% PD or not. I tried Analyticalc too, and returned to
	VC out of sheer frustration.

	Look for COOKIE::DISK$GZ_2:[WECKER.AMIGA]VC.ARC if it's
	still accessible.

2128.8VC doesn't work for meCSOADM::STOUGHTTue Jan 24 1989 19:198
    Re: .7

I have tried VC and it looks really good. However, I can't get
the 'W' (write spreadsheet to file) or the 'T' (write table to file)
commands to work. They just respond with a 'Can't create' error
message. Anyone have a fix for this?

    Steve.

I use capital 'P' to write the spreadsheet to a file. Works
every time (note: I say 'VC <file>' when I initially invoke it).

    	Re: .9

Thanks, but I know that will work. I guess I should have explained
better. What I'm after is a WYSIWYG of the screen for ouput to a
printer and such. Sorry, I wasn't more clear. :^(

    re:.10

how about getting WYSIWYG by snapshoting the screen as an IFF picture
and printing that? (can the 1.3 printer drivers do a decent enough
job so that the printed picture is readable?)

Hmmm. Good idea although a little cumbersome. Now if I can only
figure out how. Would savlbm do the trick? What next ? How do I
get it to the printer? Sorry if this seems like an elementary problem.

    Re: Analyticalc, VC

Sigh... I attempted to salvage some kind of workable spreadsheet
from these agian today. After many hours of trials, workarounds,
and frustration, I came up empty-handed.

Analyticalc- screen update is pitifully slow and the program scrolls
the screen producing garbage that can't be cleared. The 'calc'
routine gives scrolling garbage in the input window. The commands
    are generally obscure.

VC - no way to print the screen easily. There seems to be a bug
with the "write" and "tbl" routines that save the sheet in readable
format. Only sum, avg, and prod functions available and avg doesn't
    work.

I was hoping to find a good limited size and function spreadsheet
for the Amiga but have become very discouraged by this. I used
Practicalc on my C64 for years. It fit my needs very well but the
C64 is just too slow. I really don't believe my simple spreadsheet
needs warrant the expense of the higher powered commercial programs.
Please help! I don't really want too go back to the C64.

    Steve.
