2071.0. "January BCS and SMAUG meetings" by LEVERS::PLOUFF (Wes Plouff) Tue Jan 03 1989 17:32
What: BCS Amiga Users Group
When: Monday, January 9, 7:30 PM
Tuesday, January 17, 7:30 PM (Beginners' forum at 7 PM)
Where: Dept. of Transportation Bldg., 55 Broadway
Kendall Square, Cambridge
Amiga Tech Group, January 9 -- "A Modula-2 Programming Environment for
the Amiga," by Prof. Abbas Birjandi of Northeastern University. Also,
discussion of startup sequence files and resident programs. Some
technical expertise is assumed, but meetings are open to all.
Amiga Users Group, January 17 -- "MediaPhile, a media production
database," by James D. Rickman of Interactive Microsystems, Inc.
Directions: (More complete in older announcements) From Storrow
Drive, exit at 'Kendall Sq - Cambridge' exit. Cross the Longfellow
Bridge, go a few blocks. Turn right at the first light, then left to
park behind DoT. Approach from the Boston side as Cambridge streets in
the area are tricky. Or take the Red Line from Alewife to the
'MIT-Kendall' station. Go around the Marriott Hotel and cross Broadway
to the DoT.
BCS Amiga Users Group meetings are held the third Tuesday of each
month; Tech Group meetings the first Monday, all at DoT.
Also of interest:
Siggraph New England, Wednesday, January 4, 7 PM -- "Currents in
Computer Animation," a festival of state-of-the-art computer-assisted
animation. Including "Beat Dedication," and the complete version of
Pixar's "Tin Toy." Held at Newman Auditorium, BB&N, 70 Fawcett St,
Cambridge. Directions: from Fresh Pond Circle (look for Ground Round
restaurant), head west on Concord Ave. Turn right one block past
BayBank on Fawcett St.
South Metro Amiga Users Group (SMAUG), Tuesday, January 27, 7 PM --
Commodore hardware engineer Dave Haynie, designer of the American
version of the 2000, and the 2620 accelerator card (with 68020) is
scheduled to appear. He will be bringing the A2500 with Unix and
perhaps some other future Commodore hardware goodies. Held this month
only at the Elks Club, Elks Way, Norwood.
Directions to SMAUG: from Rte. 128 south, go south on Rte. 1 about 3
miles to the second set of lights in Norwood. Turn right onto Dean St,
follow to end. Turn right on Washington St. Past the crest of a hill,
turn left onto Walnut St, then take the first left onto Elks Way. (No,
I haven't been there - the Norwood PD gave these directions.) For more
information call the IDCMP BBS, (617) 769-3172, 24 hour operation.
