2058.0. "MovieSetter OH boy!" by MAMIE::LEIMBERGER () Thu Dec 29 1988 07:11

I have just picked up Moviesetter by Gold Disk, and so far it looks
like a winner. While I haven,t had time to really do a lot with it
the few things I have done all worked well. The program seems solid
an is designed to work on both 1meg+,and 512k machines. They
accomplished this by takeing a modular approach.Moviesetter comes
    with four seperate programs
    	1:moviesetter (intergrated,containing all below)
    	2:movieplayer (freely distributable)
    	3:SceneEditor
    	4:SetEditor
If you have 512k you must use the programs seperatly to allow use
of 32 colors. The manual is brief but informative, however you are
incouraged to experiment to see how different things interact. The
tutorial section will get you to the point where you are able to
do simple things, and feel your way around the program. Also contained
is a second disk with MovieClips, productions, and sets you can use
right off.I feel the only thing lacking is MY creative, and artistic
ability.I will need to purchase Deluxe Paint or such to assist me
in building sets.(sets consist of pictures that the set editor allows
you to merge together)The SetEditor, and SceneEditor do allow you
to do amazing things an supports some unique features.a person could
very well do with these but because you import IFF images you could
really do neat things with DigiView etc.I will try to put a quick
movie together, and upload it with movieplayer as soon as I figure
out the best way to do it.(what needs to be on a disk to make it
fully functional as far as Ados libries etc)
This will interest you power monguls out there. When you boot
the disk it puts up a notice something like
    	Alert patched
    	Layers patched
    	EXEC 020/881 execptions patched
This same message also is included in ComicSetter so it looks like
Gold Disk is going all out to keep it's products as up to date as
possible.I imagine the upgrade to Professional Page will also have
this support.I Am still having problems with printer output with
Pro Page, and comicsetter but at least this is not a problem with
MovieSetter.ALL in ALL a very neat package.I will answer any specific
questions that you may have on the technical side with info in the
manual, and follow up as my knowledge increases.

    HNi Bill,,

are you still playing with Moviesetter ? I purchased a copy yesterday.
Thought it might let me do something different with my computer.

Just tinkering with it last night, I added sound events and when I
deleted the track they were associated with they seemed to get left in
    the movie ????

Am I doing something wroung ?

Still, I am quite impressed with the package though. It let's you do
some pretty interesting things very easily.

    Regards
    	Mike
