2040.0. "SNIPIT V1.2" by MTWAIN::MACDONALD (WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25) Tue Dec 27 1988 13:17

I just loaded a new version of SNIPIT (V1.2) by Scott Evernden.
For those of you who are not familiar with SNIPIT, it is one of the
handiest utilities for the Amiga in the public domain. It allows you
to cut text from your screen using the Left-Amiga key and left mouse
button, and paste it anywhere else (another window, program, etc.)
using the Left-Amiga key and right mouse button. If you use the ALT
key instead of the Left-Amiga key, the text is pasted with > (angle
bracket) or any other user defined character in front of each line.
Great for replying to mail messages!

My only gripe is that I could install SNIPIT V1.0 from the
Startup-Sequence using RUNBACK. But V1.2 gurus when any attempt
is made to install using RUNBAXK. I tried RUN >NIL: SNIPIT to free
up the CLI window, but for some reason the CLI window will not free
    up. Any clues.

    Thanks.

Same exact problem here with v 2.0. No matter when in the
Startup-sequence I invoke Snipit, it locks the current CLI.

Scott Evernden is on PLINK. I'll inform him of the problem.

V1.2 is the latest. I took it off PLINK a couple days ago.

I thought I read somewhere that it no longer needs runback or run???

It's wierd... If I leave Snipit completely out of the startup-sequence,
I can install it from any CLI or Shell by just typing 'Snipit' or
'Run Snipit'. I get the message that Snipit has installed itself
and the prompt returns. It's only when I try to install it during
bootup that it locks the originating CLI.

I copied snipit12.arc from NORSE:: but it only contains the sources.
Is the executable available anywhere on the net?

    thanks,

For SOURCE CODE to a freeware MC68000 C compiler, see MAY14::ATARI_ST
topic 340. I also have it running on the VAX. You'd need to change the
linker to write Amiga-compatible executables, or perhaps just write a
filter to convert them. You'd also need to modify the start-up code and
run-time library to do Amiga I/O and image startup stuff, instead of the
Atari stuff.
2040.7SnipIt V1.2 BugMTWAIN::MACDONALDWA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25Wed Jan 04 1989 16:588
I talked to Scott Evernden, SnipIt V1.2 author. He works over at
Applix in Westborough. He is aware of the console closing bug and
will fix it soons and release the bug free version. The omission
only impacts those folks who wish to run SnipIt in their
    startup-sequence file.
