2018.0. "IFF Sound" by NITMOI::WITHERS (conjugate the verb to go...) Mon Dec 19 1988 14:59

    Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone could point me to:

    	A) A good bell sound for the VT220 emulator.

    	B) A good program that reads and reproduces IFF sound files
that includes source. I am working on a game and have access to
a sound digitizer but need a good source example of reading and
    reproducing an IFF sound file.

    Thanks,
    George

the c include files for iff on the iff disk fish 64 gives the iff
    sound format.
when you say a good vt220 bell, do you mean a good bell, or the
little pathetic beep that 220's make? I could make either one for
    you.

2018.2A church bell would be nice .. :-)GRYHWK::WITHERSEven a miracle needs a hand..Mon Dec 19 1988 18:257
I think an actual bell would be a little more fun than the pathetic
beep. Thanks alot. A friend of mine knows someone with a sound
digitizer but its not direct and I just wanted a beep sound that
    sounded good.

    Thanks,
    George

I'd like a copy of a nice bell sound also. While you're at it, could you explain
how to incorporate the new sound in Smokey?

I'm afraind this is a RTFM (Read The Friendly Manual).
As I recall, Smokey looks for BELL.SND or BELL.SOUND in the
S/ directory. By the way, you don't have to use a "bell".
If you have the PD asteroids game, for example, its easy to
copy over one of the explosion or the-flying-saucer-is-coming sounds
     to s/bell.whatever_the_extension_is.
