Here's the latest one from InfoWorld:

"Flight simulator programs on the Mac and the PC are all very well,
but they're not a patch on the wonderful flying programs available
on the Amiga. Meanwhile, if you have an Amiga 2000 you can run all
your boring old business PC programs as well.

In fact, next year's version of the Amiga, with a 386SX on the DOS
side and a 68030 chip on the Amiga side, as well as new software
that lets the DOS machine take advantage of the Amiga's graphics,
just might be a serious challenge to the Sun workstation for
about half the cost. But this is a Christmas column, so we won't
go into that. [It looks like Dr. Rubin talks TOO much :-)]

One thing you can do if you have an Amiga computer, is get hold of
Microillusion's Firepower game. You get to drive a very realistic
tank and go around blowing up everything in sight. The single player
version is fine, but since the Amiga is a *multitasking* machine,
there's a two player version as well. [...] There's great sound, too.
Get your significant other to play it with you; you haven't lived
until you've blasted her off the map"

Well, I guess Andy's, JDow's and other's efforts are finally paying off.

How's this for schizophrenic fun? Run a null cable from an AT serial
port over to the Amiga side, run Jet! on both systems, and you could
    shoot yourself down!

    re .0

Hmnnn... The article about the Sun DOS/Unix machine in this months
BYTE made quite a big deal about being able to multitask DOS and
Unix applications at the same time. Will the A2500UX accept the
new (286 or 386) bridgeboards? That would seem to be one step
better than a single processor system trying to do both.

According to BYTE the DOS windows are very sluggish. The basic
system goes for about $10k, but with color graphics, extra storage,
it would be closer to $16k. Imagine the Amiga system you could
put together with that kind of money...

There is a whole 'mini' magazine dedicated to the Mac inside.
I only had time to glance at that. The Mac IIx looks like a very capable
machine, but why is the 68030/68882 combo only ~15% quicker than
the standard Mac II? Do the '30 Amiga boards give a similiar
    performance increase over the '20s?

I also saw a glossy ad for Microsoft Windows286/386. I thought
that ad was interesting because they mentioned how "intuitive"
it was to use. (Where have I heard that before?) They also asked
the reader to imagine 1) running a spreadsheet, and while executing
a macro 2) start up a word processor, use that and then 3) run
a paint program and pull an images into the WP. Imagine that!
I guess when you get used to compiling programs, playing a game,
and downloading (or reading NOTES :) all at the same time, (not
to mention the half dozen 'smaller' utilities running) you take
    multitasking for granted.

>Will the A2500UX accept the new (286 or 386) bridgeboards?

Yes. The 2500UX is nothing more than a standard 2000 with a couple
of expansion cards already installed. You could turn any 2000 into
a 2500UX by buying and plugging in cards (and installing the proper
software). Likewise, you can upgrade a 2500UX by plugging in any
other standard Amiga 2000 card (including present and future
bridgecards).

The bridgecard runs simultaneously Amiga DOS. It isn't clear that it
runs simultaneously with Amiga Unix. If it doesn't, the problem
would be software, not hardware, and so that deficiency could be
removed. So, worst cause you might have to reboot into Amiga DOS
to use the bridgecard.

The Mac IIx is a flawed product: its only reason for existence was to
reassure Mac owners that Apple would produce a '030 machine. The timing
of the Mac IIx was dictated by NeXT, Inc. (Apple is very afraid of NeXT
clobbering them.) Since the Mac IIx was a rush job, the '030 was not
properly designed into the system. Look for a better designed '030
product from Apple next year (about the time NeXT actually ships a
product :->).

I don't know if the current crop of '030 boards for the Amiga suffer
with the same problem.

How much for a 68020 card?

I just received a catalog from Briwall, who is selling
such a board. They actually advertise these..

    Ronin H1000 Accelerator Board...	$ 345
    Ronin Hurricane H2000 519

I assume these are without the 68xxx chip(s), because those are
    also listed.

Ronin 68020-12 Microprocessor 189 ! probably found cheaper
    Ronin 68881-16 Math Co-processor 189 ! in Computer Shopper
      " " 20 " " 285
      " " 25 " " 579

    and...

    Ronin 68030 adapter board 279
    Ronin 68030 microprocessor 549

No descriptions, so maybe the H2000 does contain the 68020. Has
anyone looked into these, or maybe even *bought* one? To realize
a substancial performance increase 32bit RAM is necessary. No prices
    on that.
