1912.0. "F-Basic or COMAL" by AYOV28::ATHOMSON (C'mon, git aff! /The Kelty Clippie) Mon Nov 28 1988 12:01

    Two inquiries, does anyone know anything about the following products:

    a) F-Basic. A U.S. product, compiled BASIC. Somewhat unusual syntax.
       Question - does it support recursive procedures ?

    b) COMAL. A European language "What BASIC should have been in the
       first place". Has anyone heard of it on the Amiga ? I used it
       all the time on my C64. There is a file COMAL.H on Amicus #19-
       does anyone know what's in it ?

    re: COMAL

    I saw a news item in INFO or Commodore, or some such magazine that
    said COMAL was being ported to the Amiga. I don't have any details.

     I read a review recently of F-Basic in some Amiga magazine (Amiga
     Sentry maybe?). As I recall, the reviewer had some problems with
     the product, saying something to the effect "this looks promising
     and has lots of good points, but I'd wait for a future release
     to fix the few but serious flaws". I think F-Basic was the compiler
     that "shot itself in the foot" by requiring library files even
     after the code was compiled. In any case, check it out thoroughly
     before spending your money.
