1701.0. "Set Interlace ON ?" by CAMONE::ARENDT (DDT - The first and still the best) Mon Sep 19 1988 19:42

    Does anyone know how to set the interlace from the CLI or from the
    startup file? My problem is that I want to be able to turn interlace
    on and off without rebooting. I know it can be done because the
    vt200 emulator does it. I know that you can invoke preferences
    ,set interlace, save it and reboot, however my problem is that the
    startup-sequence transfers control to my hard disk after that
    preference is set. This means that when I invoke preferences it
    seems to afect only the hard disk not the boot floppy.

    Hellllllp !!

1701.1Alf says: "No problem!"RAVEN1::EVERHARTMon Sep 19 1988 20:509
    	Sure. There's a PD program called LACEWB that toggles the
    interlace mode for you. I stuck the program in my account so you
    can grab it if you want to. The archive is called LACEWB.ARC and
    it's in RAVEN1::DISK$RAVEN1USER1:[EVERHART.AMIGA] Please let me
    know when you get it so I can delete it.

1701.2LaceWB or SetLaceLEDS::ACCIARDIMon Sep 19 1988 20:5416

    That's an easy one... just look in LEDS3::USER6:[ACCIARDI.AMIGA]
    for a file called LACEWB.arc.

    This does exactly what you want from either Workbench or CLI.

    There is also a SETLACE command that isn't well known... the Amiga
    can perform line-doubling in 200 line mode. This is actually an
    interlaced mode, where each frame is sent twice. This is often
    used to enhance the quality of an image recorded to VCR. It can
    also be used to enhance the text quality by eliminating the dark
    horizontal bands between scan lines. I used SETLACE all the time
    before I got genuine hardware deinterlacer.

    I forgot to mention, SETLACE will absolutely not slow down the CPU
    one iota. I also forgot to mention how to turn it off..

1701.4copy system-configuration to boot floppyWJG::GUINEAUJust a Window in TimeTue Sep 20 1988 12:3911
Once you boot from hard disk and change preferences, get to a CLI and
type:

		copy devs:system-configuration df0:devs

Assuming df0: has your boot floppy, system-configuration is the file
preferences writes it's setup info to.

1701.5Works like a charm. Thanks!CAMONE::ARENDTDDT - The first and still the bestThu Sep 22 1988 18:119

    Thanks for the idea's and help. I would ahve gotten back to this
    note sooner however I caught a cold at just the wrong moment.

    I bought a monochrome amber Magnavox Monitor 80, used both lacewb
    and morerows in my startup and viola, a flicker free display of
    high resolution charcters and I love it.
