1555.0. "Improved sound capabilities" by MUNICH::CARLI (Bernardo da Vinci - the Amiga genius) Thu Jul 21 1988 14:20

Has anyone the Amazing Computing issue (april?) with an article
how to improve the sound capabilities of the amiga?
(you know that nasty filter that won't pass any frequences higher
    than 7kHz...)
I'm desperately seeking for a cheap solution to set the cut off
frequency of the filter to 12-14kHz. It shouldn't be a hard job,
but without any hardware schemes it isn't a simple task (for me).
Maybe someone tried it allready - I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

It isn't terribly cheap, but my solution to the problem was to ignore
the Amiga's 8-bit DAC and invest in an outboard synthesizer. My
current favorite is the Yamaha TX802.

There is a simple S/W fix for some Amiga's. I believe it works on
the A500 and A2000. There is a small program distributed on the Sonix
boot disk called LED. At the CLI you type LED DIM and the power led
on the system will go dim and cut out the filter. Type LED bright and
the led go's bright and the filter is cut in, LED swap will toggle the
system power led and filter. I don't now if LED is PD or not I'll check
tonight. If so I'll put it up on the net.
