1374.0. "Harrier" by DICKNS::MACDONALD (WA1OMM Listening 52.525) Mon Apr 25 1988 12:51

I cannot make a copy of "Harrier Combat Simulator" even with Marauder
II and Brain File 8. Any thoughts?

Marauder II is now up to at least 10, but I don't know if it has Harrier
on it yet. I wish Central Point would come out with a version of
Copy II+ for the Amiga. If a copy process was not yet available
for a certain program, you could set up your own parameters for
bit copies or use the parameters for another program. In the Apple
version, many times if a copy process did not exist for a particular
program, a process for another program would work, especially if
it came from the same software company.

You might commment on how you like Harrier. I've seen it at the
local store and was thinking of picking it up.

I like Harrier. Learning to use the verticle thrust in a dog fight
should be a blast. The Mig-23's look good. The tanks are very
obscure. They look like clumps of trees. Maybe this is how it
is? I think the controls arn't accurate. Tipping the wings is
very quick but, many adjustments on the stick causes a jumpy screen.
Noseing the plane down is a struggle. Slow to nose over and blast
    tanks, when I reconize them.

Landing the plane is great. What a feeling of accomplishment.
Then I usualy find that I have left the gear up (crash!).

    Steve.

The jumpy screen supposedly simulates vibration ... regarding getting
the nose down - yes, I found that to be about the slowest control
response. Although, its pretty hard to get the noise down using
vertical thrust to begin with. Turns are very brisk just like a real
Harrier (saw one perform at Pease AFB last summer). I haven't
had an opportunity to fire a missile at a MIG yet. They are very
fast! I had a flight of 3 MIGs attack me at 18,000 ft. They ducked
under the cloud cover and headed away. I never did catch them!

The graphics are pretty good. I'm beginning to think I'll never
make it to enemy headquarters though!
