1249.0. "News from AC" by LEDS::ACCIARDI () Wed Mar 16 1988 03:16

    The latest issue of Amazing Computing has an interesting 'Roomers'
    column. For those who don't subscribe or can't find AC, I'll summarize
    here. Most of these events took place at the recent AmiExpo.

    * The ABC television network flew some engineers out to AmiExpo
       LA to check out NewTek's Video Toaster/Amiga combo. Maybe the
       "Sunday Night Movie" animations will be done by Amigas soon?

    * MicroIllusions was demo'ing Photon Paint. One early beta reviewer
       commented that Photon Paint was so spectacular that it made DPaint
       II look primitive. Well, NewTek produced a spec sheet for
       DigiPaint II, and MicroIllusions got so flustered over NewTek's
       specs that they promply announced Photon Paint II. Looks like
       pretty soon HAM painting programs will be rather routine.

    * In what I consider to be a major development, Tom Hudson and
       Antic Software were at AmiExpo. Tom and Antic are single-handedly
       responsible for just about every worthwhile effort on the Atari
       ST, such as CAD-3D, the Stereo-Tek system, Spectrum 512, etc.
       If these guys apply their considerable talents to the Amiga,
       I'd expect some amazing products.

    * Version 1.4 of the system software will offer higher resolution
       screens and support for multiple monitors at the same time, a trick
       that the Mac II can do. Damned if I know how the current video
       hardware will handle that.

    These comments were paraphrased from AC without any permission
    whatsoever. I encourage everyone to rush out and buy AC, since
    it is a wonderful Amiga-specific rag. I just got so fired up over
    how well the Amiga seems to be doing that I had to blurt out something.

1249.1Where is AC?CIMNET::KYZIVATPaul KyzivatWed Mar 16 1988 21:058
Where (in the greater Maynard/Marlboro area) can Amazing Computing be purchased?

And a related question: where can Transactor for the Amiga be obtained?

I keep hearing that both of these are good, but I have never found either. (Not
that I have looked real hard.)

1249.2Here's WhereNAC::PLOUFFLANsman WesThu Mar 17 1988 00:4719
    Best place for AC and TftA is at Memory Location in Wellesley.
    Go to the Rte 9/16 intersection, head west less than one mile on
    Rte 16, then look for Memory Location on your left.

    A recent AC lists these dealers as carrying the magazine:

    Club Computer		Cambridge (Brattle Sq.)
    D-Five			Bedford
    General Computer Framingham (Rte 9 E)
    LCA Video			Norwood
    Memory Location		Wellesley
    Omnitek computers		Tewksbury
    Softpro			Burlington
    Bit Bucket West Newton (but not Sudbury!)

    _Info_ and _Transactor_ can be found at a few large newsstands,
    but I have yet to see AC or TftA anywhere but at computer stores.

    It's worth calling ahead to these places.

     I actually bought my AC from the bit bucket in sudbury. They only
    had two copies, so I snatched one right away. I would call first.
