1179.0. "NewTek Demo" by DICKNS::MACDONALD (WA1OMM Listening 224.28) Wed Feb 17 1988 13:22

    I have the NewTek Demo. If anyone wants a copy, please send two
    blank disks. Its more than 1,600 blocks long. Worth it though.
    Also, you need a minimum 1 Mbyte system.

1179.1What is NewTek?MAADIS::WICKERTMAA DIS ConsultantWed Feb 17 1988 15:276

    Is this something I should be aware of? What is NewTek?

    Thanks,
    Ray

    NewTek is the creator of the DigiView color digitizing
    hardware/software package responsible for all those lovely naked
    gir...er, digitized HAM photos floating around.

    NewTek also puts out DigiPaint, the 4096 color (at one time) painting
    program; and DigiF/X, a special effects/animation program.

    I picked up the NewTek demo disks a few months back at the Software
    Shop. It is arguably the most impressive demo yet of combined
    digitized sound, HAM animation, and special effects yet seen on
    the Amiga. I saw a film clip of SIGGRAPH where people were standing
    around gawking at this puny $600 A500 running the NewTek demo in
    the midst of Pixars, Apollos and Suns. It's that good.

    Oh, I almost forgot... the NewTek disks were my first official
    introduction to the SCA virus.

    Does somebody have TRACKER uploaded on the NET somewhere? If not,
    is there some kind soul willing to upload it?

    I searched the notes file but couldn't find a pointer to it.

    Thanks,

    I just got a copy of this demo from a friend. It really
    is incredible. I've had the machine for more than two years and
    this is probably the best demo I've seen. My friend has a
    flicker-fixer and a Taxon Multisync monitor and it really looked
    fantastic on that setup.

    If you've got the inclination I'd recommend downloading this one
    from one of the areas mentioned earlier.

Someone told me they saw a NewTek Demo #2 on GEnie. Has anyone else heard
of it? I agree, it's the best all-around demo I've seen yet!
