1116.0. "MaxiPlan Tax Templates" by LEDS::ACCIARDI () Sun Jan 31 1988 19:34

    I've uploaded an archive containing a number of MaxiPlan templates
    representing the 1987 US Income Tax forms.

    The files are broken down into seperate forms, but they are dynamically
    linked together, so MaxiPlan will always go look in the right file
    through use of the 'REFER' command.

    Look in LEDS3::USER6:[ACCIARDI.AMIGA]MXTAX.ARC

    As an aside, the creators of MaxiPlan seem to have atoned for their
    earlier sins. The first few releases of MaxiPlan were among the
    buggiest Amiga code I've seen in my life. We're talking a major
    guru just by moving a window.

    Now, at version 1.8e, (I hear there is already another upgrade)
    MaxiPlan is one of the most powerful spreadsheets I know of; I think
    it's in the same league as Excel on the MAC. There's nothing it
    can't do. If you've been holding off on buying MaxiPlan (it earned
    the not-so-affectionate name 'MaxiSh*t early on), I can semi-oficially
    declare it fixed. If you've got limited memory, MaxiPlan 500 has
    all the features of MaxiPlan Plus, except a smaller array size.

1116.1Looking for TAX ProgramNQOAIC::NILSENBob @ 264-7017Tue Jan 07 1992 13:517
     In the IBM world, they have bunches of tax programs available. I
    was wondering if someone or a company has tax programs for the Amiga.
    I looked in the Lotus notes for a 1991 tax form, but no luck.
    If there is one sold by a company, has anyone tried it ?

    Thanks  Bob

1116.2TaxBreak from Datamax ResearchCADSYS::GATULISFrank Gatulis 226-6140Tue Jan 07 1992 14:4425

    Bob,

    For the past 3 years I've used TAXBREAK from Datamax research. I've
    done 5-7 sets of taxes each year with the product. I can't say how
    it compares to other products as I've never tried, or seen anything else
    on the Amiga. While there's always plenty of room for improvement,
    TaxBreak gets the job done. This year all the forms are supposed to
    be Lotus compatable if that's of any value to you.

    It only does FEDs but provides IRS acceptable printout. Call Datamax
    and they'll send you a brochure and order information. They aren't
    shippong this year until January 15th.

    I don't know the cost for a new user but it's been $30 a year for an
    update. This year, ARexx is a pre-requesite to Taxbreak. If you
    run WB 2.04 yo already have ARexx. If you run WB 1.3 I think
    Datamax will sell you ARexx for $25. As for exactly which forms
    taxbreak supports, it seems to vary each year, ask thwem directly.
    There always seems to be one or two I have to fill out by hand.
