	Denver called Computer Discount ? Are they goood, bad,

    	I just ordered my A2090 HD controller from them on Tuesday
    afternoon. I ordered it Second Day Air, and they told me it wouldn't
    go out until Wednesday which means that it probably wouldn't arrive
    until Today. I will tell you this, they are definatly mail order
    oriented since in their catalogs, they have coupons which are good
    only if you mail in the order NOT IF YOU CALL. They also have a
    $3.00 handling fee for Credit Card orders...But then again, they
    are currently advertising a 2400bps Modem for the Amiga for $140.00..

    	When I called to place my order though, they told me the price
    on what I was ordering (it wasn't in the flyer), I heard some
    keystrokes and then was informed that is WAS in stock. I would
    definately have to say that my first impressions are good. But
    this afternoon will tell whether the response time is just as good.

1103.2CSC32::J_PARSONSDon't mind me. I'm just here to observeMon Jan 25 1988 13:218
    I live in Colorado Springs and go up to their "showroom" (it's in
    a part of Denver you wouldn't want to be in anytime after sunset)
    occasionally. I bought my used A1000 there about 6 months ago. They
    have quite a knowledgeable staff and 6 or 8 demo machines. Everyone
    there is enthusiastic about the Amiga and they keep a pretty full
    stock of most everything made for the machine.

    Can you tell that I like them?

1103.4Their BBS doesn't like them..MTBLUE::PFISTER_ROBNo Pain, No PainMon Jan 25 1988 15:3011
I logged on to there BBS one night, and saw some messages telling
how bad the service was. (like months for a high speed modem) There was
also mention of the fact that the name of the place seems to change every
couple of months [the theory was that people would forget the bad experience
and place another order]. These messages were a bit old, and it made me
wonder why there was no rebuttal from CD.

I have no experience ordering from them, I'm just summarizing what I read on
their BBS. They do have some nice prices tho...

    	A2090 = 330.98

    I got it today so, unless I have problems with it...(won't know
    until I get home tonight and install the blooddy thing then, you
    could say I am pretty satisfied.

1103.6Phoenix likes them...TEMPE1::ARBUCKLEWIZARDTue Jan 26 1988 19:3922

    	Computer Discount just opened a place here in Phoenix and
    have a well versed and helpful staff. I have gotten some fairly
    good prices on the things I've bought so far. They also are willing
    to point you in the direction of other resources once you have
    let them know what you are interested in. I'm real pleased with
    them here in the Valley of the Sun.

    	BTW - I have the A500, 2002 monitor, 1/2meg expansion, external
    		Prodrive and a Panasonic 1080i. My interests are in
    		MIDI applications as I connect it to my Technics
    		Electronic Grand Piano. Soundscape software helps
    		fix my fumbly-fingered work.

    PS. I forgot to mention, I purchased the printer from one of their
    competitors since they had run out during the Christmas season.
    Computer Discount set-up the price reduction for me...so I'm
    willing to give them an A+ rating!
