| yes, I read them, but some things, if not of interest to me, I don't
bother to mention.....as for the methods of transmitting them...
Usent things are grouped into SHAR file (Shell ARchives)..I think
we covered this before, but.....
Shar files can be unpacked by just passing them to the Shell (ie
command interpreter...there is even a beast call DAR...DCL ARchive
that unpacks using DCL...;-)
But the good news for all of us is the Dave W. wrote a simple extension
to the SHAR program to unpack these suckers into individual files...
(see mvcad3::user0:[amiga.tools] for source and exe of basic vms
utilities to deal with these files)
Now to change the binary files to ASCII (or other char representations
depending on machine)...use UUENCODE/UUDECODE...the idea here is
to translate 3 bytes of binary to 4 characters (24 bits binary to
4-6 bit character representations)
So, its easy to do, and in general, I do put all of the programs
(Source and binary groups) onto MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.usenet]
Feel free to access, but please be considerate during the day...if
possible use the spool (FTSV) program to do it batch overnite, but
some access during the day ok.
Hope this answers it...

| Our system was down during the weekend, and I'm sure I must
have lost some of the usenet postings sent. If you received
comp.sys.amiga, binaries or source during the weekend, could you
please just forward it to PUERTO::ALVAREZ ??
Thanks.
