1044.0. "HyperCard anyone?" by MTBLUE::PFISTER_ROB (No Pain, No Pain) Fri Jan 08 1988 16:49

Has anyone thought of doing a HyperCard clone for the Amiga? I just got
my hands on a big fat book that supposedly tells all there is to know
about the thing. Bill Atkinson (the creator of HyperCard) claims he'll make
public the disk format used so that applications can run smoothly across
machines.

The first 3 levels look pretty easy to implement, while the rest get
more complex.

One might also note that it took ~2-1/2 years for Bill to write the
thing in the first place, so it might take a bit more than a few
weekends.

Any comments? brave souls?

I've been looking into HyperCard of late. What's the name of
the big fat book you are referring to?

An Amiga implementation of HyperCard sounds like an interesting
project, although finding the time may be difficult.

the book is...

`The Complete HyperCard Handbook' by Danny Goodman

it's published by Bamtam Books `The Macintosh Performance Library' (yee haaw)

ISBN 0-533-3491-2

I got mine in Mr PaperBack in Waterville, Maine so it shouldn't be hard to
find in civilized parts of the country.

I'll look up Bantam's fone number if you wanna order it directly.

(I think lots of work could be saved on the Amiga if the graphics tool
part of the thing was skipped, and joe user poped up DPaint or similiar
tool, and used a clipboard cut+paste. Like the machine multi-tasks, ya know)
