967.0. "reminder, Computer Fleamarket Sunday" by BAGELS::BRANNON (Dave Brannon) Thu Dec 10 1987 21:27

For those of you hunting for cheap hard disks, cables, etc. in the Boston
    Area,

    Sunday, December 13, 10am - 4pm
    Computer Show, Sale & Fleamarket
    Sheraton Hotel, I-495 Exit #28,
    Boxborough, Mass
    adult $7 child(5-12) $4

The next one is on Jan 9th? at the Northeast Trade Center in Woburn.

On a related topic, I stopped by the computer store on rt 2A, the
one that used to be called Instant Software, not sure what they
call it now. They no longer have Amiga software on the display
rack, they put it all on a 60% discount table. Lots of INFOCOM
games, a couple copies of Deluxe Video, one Deluxe Paint. All
at 60% off the list price. Beware, some of the older titles
have problems with WB 1.2 and fast ram. In particular, I believe
Ultima III will only run with WB 1.1. Same for Seven Cities of
Gold. I could be wrong, but with that discount, I don't think
they accept returns. They do not have any Amiga hardware you
    can test it on.

The INFOCOM stuff should be ok. And Electronic Arts does offer
upgrades to fix wb 1.2 and fastram problems for some of their
titles like Deluxe Video (60% discount + upgrade may be much
cheaper than buying the new version)

967.1Sounds like the entry fee is a bit steepCAMPER::LOMICKAJJeff LomickaThu Dec 10 1987 23:533
Is this a traditional fleamarket, where hackers sell off technology that should
have been abandonded in the last century, or is this an event where retailers
and reputable folk will be offering good deals on real stuff?

Just a small interuption, I've been using Ultima III under KS 1.2.

    re: .1
both kinds, the cost of a table is cheap compared to "real" computer
shows. That is why they call it a Computer Show and also a Fleamarket.
But you won't find DEC, IBM, or Apple running a booth there :-)
Think of it as a cultural experience... There are also $1 off coupons
    available in many places.

    re: .2
my Ultima III give a cute message like "Thy system is corrupt, press
left mouse button to reboot", works fine with wb 1.1. Glad to hear
they fixed it for 1.2, looks like i need to upgrade.
