790.0. "TROUBLE WITH EPSON RX-80" by CAM::ARENDT () Mon Oct 12 1987 02:25

        I have an AMIGA 2000 and I have attached a EPSON RX-80 to the
    parallel port. The problem is that there is no specific preference
    setting for the printer, there is EPSON, and EPSON JX-80 but no
    RX-80. If I init the printer with either one of these I cannot
    get a good print no matter what I do (and the printout is total
    gaarbage).
        On the other hand if I init the system with the printer preference
    set up as generic I get good print but all spaces are ignored.
    I don't know what to do and am open to any suggestions. The printer
    works fine in test mode also.

    See topic 771 for a pointer to a shareware printer driver generator.
    I have used it successfully with my NEC P6, whereas the Epson drivers
    did not work correctly.

    EPSON is the correct preferences selection.

    Make sure the baud rate is set correct, and make sure the dip
    switches are correct. You might also want to make sure all your
    pins are set correctly. You also need to set the preferences to
    DRAFT, not LETTER, and make sure COLOR is not selected.

    To John Sauter;

    Can you make available the printer driver that you created ? I
    have no desire to go through what you have gone through I simply
    want the results.

            Thank You For Your Support

    If you will send me a 3 1/2 inch floppy I will fill it with the
    driver code. This is shareware, so if you find it useful you
    should send a check for $10 to the author. Details (including
    the author's address) are on the floppy.

    I am posting this here rather than sending a MAIL message because
    I am willing to copy the floppy for anybody.

    Send the floppy to ZKO2-3/R56. Don't forget your return address.

790.5Any cable source pointers or pinout info?SMURF::COOLIDGEBayard, ULTRIX CSSE 381-0503 ZKO3Fri Jan 11 1991 16:2413

    I have, I think an "RX80P" in my basement. (I should have remembered
    to jot down the full nomenclature before heading into work).

    I don't have a cable for it. Can anyone recommend a source in Central
    or Southern NH that might have one OR does anyone have a pin-out
    diagram for the printer so that I could make a cable myself to
    plug into the A500? I'm assuming (rashly, perhaps?) that I'd use
    one of the drivers on the Extras disk. (I'm running 1.3).

    Thanks in advance as I'm still an Amiga novice.

    The RX80 has a standard Centronics parallel port. You can pick up a
    standard Amiga printer cable for it from any Amiga dealer.
