606.0. "<LoadWB -Debug> and then...???" by LAUSAN::BLANC (Phil Lausanne-CH 21-JUL-1987 15:36) Tue Jul 21 1987 15:13

    Hi,
Having a terminal on the serial port (correctly setted-up) ,you
can have some type of debugging your Amiga (as I understand)
either after GURU has been here (it then dumps out kernel stack, user
stack) or with the CLI command LoadWB -Debug (you then get a special
    menu on the workbench menus).
You get a type of prompt on the serial port wich look like this
    ROM WACK
It seems then you can give some commands (ODT style)
Can anybody point or give me the maximum infos ,commands, news etc...
    for this item ?
    Thanks Phil

Re: .0

ROM Wack requires a 9600 baud terminal hooked up to the serial port.
One of the ways of getting into Wack is to hit the RIGHT mouse button
when a GURU message is flashed up onto the screen. (Remember the Guru
message says to hit the left mouse button to reboot, and says nothing
about the right? Now you know why.)

ROM Wack is documented towards the end of the Exec manual. Try looking
for Wack or debugging in the index. There is only a two of three page
description of the debugger, but then it is so limited, it only requires
two of three pages of descriptions.

I would recommend that you NOT bother to read up on it, however. It really
is just a hex debugger: no instruction decode, no breakpoints, nothing.
Its just the thing for the author of the Exec to run to look at the
task control block of the task that crashed the machine, but it isn't
that useful for anyone else.

If you need a debugger, get Metascope.
