589.0. "CP6 owners!" by HOUSE::FRACTAL () Mon Jul 13 1987 04:38

    Hi! Well I finally purchased a decent printer. I bought myself a
    Nec Cp6 and i'm having some problems. I think that the only person
    who could help is somebody that owns one. Anybody out there?
    My problem is that all colors come out too dark when doing graphics.
    The printer also always does two passes, even in black.
    Can anybody help me?

    I don't have that printer, but perhaps it has a feature like the Canon:
    a switch to select bold printing. On the Canon the switch is on the
    back, and causes two passes, just as you describe.

    Or...

    You application may be sending over the code for bolding. Try another
    or different application.

    Pardon me if I insult your intelligence, but are you sure
    you have the right driver?
589.4Ummm...HOUSE::FRACTALWed Jul 15 1987 02:4015
    Yes...I do have the correct driver. i think my problem is with the
    cable. For instance, when I execute a "Copy * to prt:" I can't do
    a (cntrl)\ to exit. It just hangs there. Also the LQ, pitch, and
    LPI settings have no effect on any sort of printout. When I made
    a simple textfile in Notepad which consisted of 1 line of bold,
    1 line of Italics, 1 line of Underline, and 1 line of all three,
    the printer never gets the cancel sequences for the attributes.
    There are only two things that could be wrong here. My computer
    or my cable (no pin 23). What I'm looking for is somebody (who could
    take the time to) give me the correct pinouts on both ends of the
    cable.

    Thanks,
