527.0. "Commodore Finally Advertises!" by LEDS::ACCIARDI () Thu Jun 04 1987 16:37

    There is a full page ad for the Amiga 500/1000/2000 in both InfoWorld
    and Computer Systems News. The ad is dealer oriented (no mention
    of speed, graphics, multitasking, etc.) with several dealers bragging
    about how rich they got selling Amigas. (My dealers all plead poverty)

    There are also seperate full page ads for the PC 10/20 Clones.

    It's nice to see CBM freeing up some money for advertising, but
    when are they ever going to point out some of the things that make
    the Amiga so special? I bet one 30 second TV demo of Juggler, or
    the 1812 Overture playing on Deluxe Music, or even a shot of several
    windows scrolling text and graphics on one screen, while pulling down
    another screen with more windows on it would be more impressive than any
    verbal hype.

An for "TEST FLY BEFORE YOU BUY" in the Boston Globe,
page 48 today. Nice to see some advertising

This one has a picture of an A500, and a video tape
which the shop owners are reported to have.

    I was in a store here in Washington DC on Tuesday and saw the video
    tape. Pretty nice piece of work - and they lend them out! They had
    about 10 of them for interested parties to take home and play with
    on their VCR. How effective it'll be remands to be seen...

527.3Amiga ad on MTV!RBW::WICKERTMAA DIS ConsultantWed Dec 14 1988 00:488

    I finally got our cable hooked up yesterday in our new house. While
    channel hopping I came across MTV. In the couple of hours I watched
    MTV I saw an ad for the Amiga 500 at least 3 times! It wasn't a
    bad ad either. It was made up mostly of screen shots that included
    several shots of Dragon's Lair so you know it's pretty new!

    I heard an ad for Memory Location this morning on the radio. The
    ad was solely for our blesed Amiga. It was a pretty good sales
    pitch. They didn't dwell on the fact that the amiga is a great
    games computer, like other ads are doing. They focused on it's
    capabilities as a useful home/business computer.

    Way to go Memory Location!
