512.0. "online downloading" by AUNTB::PRESSLEY () Mon May 25 1987 17:03

    Has anyone used ONLINE to download binary files from the vax?
    I attempted to by first using archive open to specify the file to
    receive the data and then using amiga r to specify the file to

    download. At this point the program just sits there. What
    am I doing wrong?

512.1Xmodem/Kermit needed...LEDS::ACCIARDITue May 26 1987 00:1918
    You must have access to Kermit or Xmodem, and you must command that
    program to begin sending data BEFORE specifying the file on the
    Amiga end of things. If you don't have them, Xmodem and Kermit
    can be found on ...

    By the way, I don't know if you are using the new 2.0 version of
    Online!, but the 1.* versions do not remove null characters from
    binary downloads, and the file must be 'Chopped' after downloading.
    If you don't chop the file, you will get 'not an object module'
    messages when you try to run the program. Dave Wecker's VT100,
    Dan James' Comm, and almost every worthwhile terminal program autochop
    files, but old versions of Online! do not. I stopped using Online!
    long ago, since it's only redeeming feature was script files, which
    VT100 also does very nicely. Plus, the VT100 emulation of Online!
    is rather deficient.
