368.0. "Kermit Difficulty" by AUTHOR::MACDONALD (WA1OMM Listening 224.64) Tue Mar 10 1987 11:45

    Whenever I attempt to send a file (xxx.ARC) to the VAX using VT100_V26
    and Kermit, the send fails after a few thousand bytes. Message is
    something to the effect that the record length is too long for Kermit.
    I have the Image option selected on the menu. So what am I doing
    wrong. Downloads work okay with the same settings.

368.1Is it ARC version related?KIRK::LONGTue Mar 10 1987 12:345
	Which version of ARC are you using to create the file or is the
	problem specific to the version of VT100? ( a lot of talk
	recently about problems with the new versions of ARC )

    Paul,

    If you are doing a GET from the VAX kermit makesure you set the
    file type ON the vax. (i.e. SET FILE TYPE BINARY)

    BTW Paul I think ZOING.ARC is corrupted I downloaded it three times
        (twice with kermit once with xmodem) and had the same problems
        each time.  I tried ARC16 and ARC22.

    Ill confirm that note about zoing. I've tried it many
    times myslef. I kept coming up with bytes skipped. Does anybody
    have a working copy?

       Glad to hear that others had problems with zoing. I have also
       tried multiple downloads of zoing and uedit from Paul's account
       using both kermit and xmodem - keep getting a missing header
       record during the de-arc'ing process. On the other hand, a couple
       of the other .arc files Paul has so graciously made available have
       de-ar'ced with no problem.
