297.0. "We're Ahead." by LEDS::ACCIARDI () Tue Feb 03 1987 10:50

I just noticed that the Amiga conference has exceeded the Atari
ST conference in volumes of notes. Gee, I wonder if that means
there are now more of us, or if we just talk more?

We must go into mass production of notes, we can't tolerate a message
gap between us and them! (only kidding)

(Please respond with a new note) (still kidding)

Re: .0

Actually, the Amiga notesfile has been larger than the ST notesfile
for many months. Although the ST notesfile had until recently more
topics (base notes), the Amiga notesfile had more total entries (base
notes + replies).

I think it is unsafe to draw any conclusion from this data.

(Well, I've replied.)
297.2that's because there's lots of ST talk in this fileVIKING::BANKSIn Search of MediocrityTue Feb 03 1987 18:3810
More specifically, if we were to take all the notes about Atari
STs out of the Amiga file, put them into the ST file and vice versa,
I think we'd have more of a basis for comparisons.

Seems like we're still spending a bit more time than necessary talking
about the ST around here. Don't mind too much hearing about the
latest lies being spread about the Amiga, but as for other ST issues,
I just don't think they're too relevant here.

Not that it really matters too much, I guess. Just a random complaint.

Ha Ha, thats pretty amusing, mostly 'cause its true. On Compuserve,
there is more Amiga scuttlebutt in the Atari SIG and vice versa.

Actually, the guys in the ST notes are pretty low-key about the
Amiga. Myself, I'm basically the type of guy who stops and stares
at car wrecks and loves rumors of adultery, so I guess I just like
to know what the 'competition' is up to.

Maybe we should start a new conference called '68000 gossip & slander'

Alright, alright, I confess! I too am a lurker in the ST (& Mac)
conference(s) largely for the same reasons. Pure, unadulterated
snooping. It is for this same reason that I'm actually enjoying
the current Amiga vs. ST yelling on the usenet. Lot's of laughs.
Man/woman doesn't live by hacking alone.

And no, I *don't* read People or The Enquirer, :-)

    Enquiring minds want to know...

Religious wars can be interesting, history is full of what fun that
can be. This last battle was very interesting. I knew that the
Amiga multitasks, but didn't know how that compared to desk accessories
and things like MAC Switcher. Not owning an ST or MAC, i have
no desire to buy documention to find out how they work.

I too, like to snoop into the MAC, ST, pc notesfiles. Buried in
the noise of the "my computer is better", are some interesting
info that helps me to appreciate how nice the Amiga really is.
