274.0. "NROFF anyone?" by ANYWAY::BROWN (Doug Brown) Mon Jan 26 1987 13:42

      Does any one have a copy of the PD text formating program NROFF?
    If so, would it be possible for you to put it up on a machine which
    is accessabel via the EasyNET?
      I believe that this program was distributed on one of the FISH
    disks a while back.

274.1I'VE ONLY SEEN PROFFMOJAVE::VOSSMon Jan 26 1987 19:025
    PROFF was distributed on Fish disk 9 (I think), but I haven't seen
    any mention of NROFF on the Fish disks.

      You are right. It is proff not nroff.

      Steve, I will get the disk number and let you know. Thanks in
    advance.

274.4TxED and PROFF UTILITYPOLAR::GOSLINGTue Jan 27 1987 17:2913
       TxED comes with a PROFF utility to provide you with "word
       processed" output of TxED produced text. I've used it and like it
       - does everything I've thought of throwing into a document! I'm
       sure that it is Public Domain (but I'll check). Don't know if its
       the same one as you folks are saying exists on a FF disk, and if
       not, whether it has any additional functionality that may be of
       value?

       If anyone is interested I could look into it further and, assuming
       it is PD, make it and the manual available for downloading.

274.5Check out ProffMacros, tooTLE::ANDERSONMike AndersonTue Jan 27 1987 20:134
    Proff is on Fish disk #9 (but I don't know how it compares to the
    TxED offering). There is also ProffMacros on Fish disk #46 -- I
    haven't seen it yet, but it's described as a subset implementation
    of Berkeley "ms" and System V "mm" macro packages.
274.6Proff on the netELWOOD::PETERSWed Jan 28 1987 03:089

    	I have put PROFF and it's manual in a ARC file. It can be copied
    from

274.8FISH DISK PROFF vs TxED PROFF58379::GOSLINGWed Jan 28 1987 16:1413
       I took a look at the PROFF.MAN contained in the arc from Steve's
       directory and it is the same as the PROFF that comes with TxED.

       Anyone using Standard Digital Runoff on the VAX will feel right at
       home with this.

       (Now if we could only have SEDT ported to the AMIGA!!!??? I pray
        every night that the great God of SEDT, Anker Berg Sonne, will
        see fit to undertaking an AMIGA version.)
