223.0. "Recording with DeluxePaint" by GENRAL::WARDELL () Thu Dec 18 1986 15:48

    I just purchased DeluxeVideo and am really impressed with what
    it can do to make video productions. However, when I recorded my
    first program on my VCR, I was quite disappointed in the quality
    of the recording. The playback was not very crisp and lacked the
    sharp line detail I expected. I'm using a Panasonic industrial
    grade VCR in the 2 hour mode fed by the composite video output of
    the Amiga. Anybody have any ideas on whether I have an Amiga problem
    or is this the best I can expect?

    I've had similar problems with DPAINT pictures. I believe it the
    limitation of bandwidth for the RF modulator on the video output.
    My only resort was to use bigger features.

    I've got a Sony KBXR25 (#?) that's got RGB in. I was wondering if
    Sony's modulator was any better in creating the video signal?
    Any one tried this?

    BTW where can I get a RGB connector to AMIGA connector for my 25"
    Sony? Do I have to make my own from pieces?

    Make sure that you are running the Amiga in interlace mode before
    transfering the video. This can be done by running the program
    Setlace, or by putting the workbench in interlace mode in preferences
    in Version 1.2.

    This will provide a little clearer transfer. Other than that, the
    Amiga does not have a very good composite output. There have been
    several complaints about it here.

    Never expect the output to come anywhere near to RGB. NTSC just
    can't do that. If you are used to viewing the RGB screen, NTSC
    will always dissappoint.

223.3Analog or DigitalHYSTER::DEARBORNTrouvez MieuxThu Dec 18 1986 16:066
    Is your Sony RGB Analog or RGB Digital? Chances are, it is Digital,
    which is little help, being limited to only 8 colors of display.
    If it is Analog, you are in luck. You might try Redmond cable (their
    number is listed in ads in Amiga mags) They make cables for just
    about anything on the market.

    Try 'Cables-to-Go', they can make an Amiga to anything cable for
    about $25-$30 , and will ship within a few days of your order.

    I'm still using 1.1, where do I find the Setlace program?

    For a while you can copy it from:

      ant::bipolar:[smcafee]setlace.;

    I downloaded this with KERMIT in binary mode and it worked fine.

    Anyone who had trouble copying setlace from my account: Try again.
    I think I found the problem.

    ANT::BIPOLAR:[smcafee]setlace.;

223.8Not an object fileGENRAL::WARDELLMon Dec 22 1986 17:193
    I copied it and down loaded using Kermit (binary file mode). However,
    when I tried to run it I got a "not an object file" message. Any
    suggestions?
223.9WORKED FOR ME58405::GOSLINGMon Dec 22 1986 17:445
       Funny, I downloaded it using Kermit (set file type binary on the
       VAX end and Image mode on the DW-VT100 side) and it ran.

Image mode - I'll try that. I'm using DW-VT100 and set file type binary,
    That must be the difference. I presume it's somewhere in the setup
    menu.
