Ok Jake, I'll try to explain "Crickets".

The only number on the board that are relevant are
    15,16,17,18,19,20,bulls

First team to get 3 darts (at any time) in each of those spots wins. If
you get it in the small outer ring it counts as 2, in the inner ring
for any number 3, else 1. In the bullseye outer ring it is 1, inner
    ring 2.

That was the game we played the first 2 times. The 3rd game, for which
Kev and Metz are paying via p-name is slightly different. Once a team
has 3 in a number (say 15), they start scoring points. So we had
closed out 19, and before Kev and Metz closed out 19, we hit one more
19 giving us 19 points. As the game went along Kev and Metz took a 46
point lead. However they had no bulls. We finished the bulls and then
hit 2 more bulls (each worth 25 points). Giving us the win.

    TCM,

When I was in England, that game was called "Mickey Mouse", don't know
why, but it was. Aslo, instead of 15 up thru the bull, it was 10 thru
    bulls.

The way we played "Cricket" in darts was :

The team that was scoring threw at whatever numbers they wanted, and
the score was added up. The other team threw for bulls. Once they had
hit 7 bulls, they switched. The team with the highest score,
    naturally, won.

I used to play LOTS of darts when I was in England. Used to get killed
too, when playing in pubs, those guys could put the dart PRECISELY
where they wanted it, most of the time.

282.8CAMONE::WAYWe're the Dance Band on the TitanicTue Nov 10 1992 12:4715
The only thing that darts has in common with rugby is beer.

I never play darts at a rugby drinkup if I've played prop, the reason being
that it hurts to much to pick my head up enough to get my eyes to aim
at the board.

If I've hooked, I'll play, and if I've played lock, I hang out with
the other locks and complain about the props and hookers who try to
squeeze your head like a mellon on the scrummages.

So darts ain't all that much like rugby, except that darts goes on at
rugby drinkups.....

Play cricket where you have to call the number you want to hit. No

Play Cricket were you call the number, if you miss and hit another
then your opponent gets the point. ie; shooting 15 and hit 17 they get
  the 17.

Tim, the dart league in CS plays slop cricket!! and 301 double/double
    for singles.

Slop Cricket is a good game to start on. Until you learn to control
the darts, the game is pretty frustrating. Calling each shot might
push a new Diddler to quit.

I love the game. When my fiance moved to Cincy, we moved to an
apartment that will not allow a dartboard. (There is no "good"
distance of nine ft+ to hang my board without the place looking
    dorky)

How do the diddlers feel about the latest push for the plastic darts
and the funky boards? I hate them. Bristle is the only way to go.

Electronic darts are for girly mons!

I throw 23 gram steel point Piranha's. I'm ready to move up to 25
grams, but haven't felt like dropping anywhere from $35-$60 on a set.
It seems like I spend enough money on shafts and flights.

The CSDL has changed their format Cadzilla.

Divison A that I throw in is as follows:

Team game has 1 player from each team throwing. Of course no one
player can throw in 2 different team games. The games are as follows
and is 1 game only, no 2 out of 3.

     Team:

     501
     Cricket
     301
     Cork winner calls game.

     Doubles: 1 game only

     501 players/team
     501 players/team

     Cricket 2 players/team
     Cricket 2 players/team

     Singles:

4 singles matches. Each match goes 2 out of 3.

     501
     Cricket
Cork winner calls if game is needed. 301 double in and out can be
    played.

This is a new format that supposedly saves time. On average, it
saves about 15 minutes / night.

As someone who has dabbled in darts, and has a dart board at home, this is a great
discussion. Its nice to see a sport such as darts discussed by knowledgeable
people. I have the urge to take notes (no pun intended).

I hope to be able to throw darts with some of you fellows in the near future.

	RE.19

Here a few I know of, HTH

   Cadzilla

    Cricket

 	 1. You must hit three of each 15->20 and three bulls to win.

	 2. If you hit four or more of a number before your opponent
hits three of the same number, you mark the points on side
of score board. These points must be made up by either shooting
bulls at the end or by closing another before the opponent which
	     adds point to your side.

Some shooters like to "Pound Points" by continuing to shoot
at a number he/she has closed, but you have not. In many circles
this considered as un-necessary and Un-Sportsmanlike!! This
practice is also part of the strategy of the game.

So when both shooters get down to the end, and one has 25 points
against them they would have to shoot 4 bulls to make up the
difference. Three for a close and 25 more to cover the points.

       301/501/701/??

             1. 01 games are either started by hitting a double of any number
or by the flying start method.
             2. All numbers hit are subtracted from the starting figure 301 etc.

	     3. Once you get down to say 160, you need to begin planning your
"OUT" shot.. To get OUT you must hit a double of a number when
subtracted from your remaining score results in ZERO.

	     4. 160 is the highest obtainable OUT with three darts. My
	         best in league was a 144 Trp 20 Trp 20 Dbl 12

 	      5. Six darts is the minimum number that can be thrown for a
	         perfect 301 game. Dbl 16 Trp 19 Trp 20 =149 in
                                   Trp 20 Trp 20 Dbl 16 = 152 out

               6. 100 points with three darts is known as a "TON"
26 is known as CHIPS ( aka fish and Chips) OR BREAKFAST

     Baseball

	       1. Throw three darts at the 1, then 2 and so on.

	        2. Add score foe each innings

	        3. Person with highest score wins at end of 9

	        4. If tied continue into extra innings.

	        5. If the single, double anf triple are hit by a shooter
the games is over via the old proverbial "Shang'Hi"

Fantastic. Lots of GREAT information. Another example of how
the diverse interests make this more than just an electronic

to have a place where folks can do the tavern thing.

	Kev,

Around here (CSDL) team play used to consists of the following

6 singles 2 out of 3 301 Dbl/Dbl and Slop Cricket if tied
winner of the diddle gets to choose 01 or Cricket.

3 double same format as single

        2 triples 701.

First team to win 6 games wins the match.
From what Tim says they changed some since I was in the league.

The actual match is the reverse of the format I listed above. Singles
	last!

I left something out of the 01 rules.

When you get down to your "OUT", if any of your hits or combination
of hits is greater than your OUT, you BUST and must start over with the
same "OUT" on your next turn.

PLease forgive me but JD's really done a # on my haid!

OK, how many guys on a team?

Say yer playing 501 (no double-in right) or Cricket.
Does team "A" player #1 throw 3 darts and the next time "A" is up
does #2 toss or does #1 play the whole match?

If there are 4-5-6 guys on a team, does that mean that (assuming
unlimited boards) there are 4-5-6 matches going on simultanously?

    OR,

does the team consist of "starters" and pine-riders, playing only/
usually if the srarters don't show?

That's what I wanted to know.

A team only needs to have 4 players, but we have 5 in case someone
    can't show up.

WE line up people in games they are stronger at.

The highest possible out on an 01 game is 170. You forgot about the
double bull counting as 50 points. Its tough to hit!

The format varies from division to divison. This format we are now
playing is a combo of both the masters and B divisions from last year.
