273.0. "Ed Kross - RAAM '92 ROTY" by LJOHUB::CRITZ () Mon Aug 10 1992 16:15

    	Ed Kross, Framingham, MA, finished the 1992 Race Across
    	AMerica (RAAM) on Monday, 3 August, 1992, at 11:16 AM.
    	His race time was 9 days, 20 hours, 56 minutes. He was
    	the first rookie to finish, making him Rookie of the
    	Year. Only 10 men finished officially; Ed was the 8th
    	male finisher overall. Ninth was Hubert Schwarz (a veteran)
    	and tenth was Paul Black (another rookie).

    	Ed finished in untypical RAAM race fashion with hands above his
    	head. Unfortunately, no one else had done this and the
    	race photographer was got a real close up of Ed's tire in
    	his lens. Too bad I didn't get to see the actual finish;
    	I was trying to park the pace van along River St. in
    	Savannah.

    	Earlier in July, Ray Schulz of NEBC (Ed Kross is the president
    	of NEBC) finished 5th at the Masters' Sprint Nationals. He even
    	beat Kent Bostick, a nationally known US racer.

    	Dodie <mumble> (I missed her name) won a big road race for women
    	down in Connecticut.

    	Seems like NEBC is really cleaning up this year.
