196.0. "A Common Sense Reminder to Sports Noters..." by CAM::WAY (Irene Ryan is SUCH a babe!) Fri Sep 13 1991 03:00

It's late. I got home a while ago after a day at ZKO and managed to
log on only a little while ago.

I'm pretty cranky tonight, because I'm tired of having a busted paw,
tired of running and running and running and not rucking, and tired
of staying off beer while I'm trying to lose weight.

So, I figured I'd read sports for a while.

What I found when I got in here was mail from moderators up in arms,
notes hidden, and the SPORTS equivalent of Soddom and Gamorrah....

Because of all the above, even after thinking this out for a while,
I'm not up to my usual diplomatic standards here, so I'll be blunt.....

We *ALL* should know better. In the past, we've trod a fine
line here in SPORTS, and like any tightrope walker would tell
you, that in itself is a rush. But lately, and I mean very
lately, we've crossed that line so many times that the line
has ceased to be any more. And, hey, I'm just as guilty.

These are tough times in this Company. I can't help but
feel that management will be looking for any excuse, for
any scapegoat, for any reason to take even more away from us.

In the past when times weren't this bad there was talk about
no leisure notes. Simple common sense will tell you the
	possibilities now.

The moderators don't want to be police, or fascists as some
insist. We don't want to go around setting notes hidden
and sending people mail about the content of their notes.
Nor do we want to feel like kindergarten teachers.
We'd like to let the conference run itself.

This conference is so loose compared to others where the
moderators are *always* tweaking notes and moving them into
neat little cubbyholes, and admonishing noters for this and
that. We don't do that here.

All we're asking is a little bit of self-policing. I'll admit
I'm one of the offenders too, and I'm going to try and take the
	lead in this.

Bluntly stated, let's clean it up. I'd hate to see this conference
taken away just because we lack a little bit of self control....

I hope this didn't sound too cranky. If it did, I apologize, but I know
the content is what I wanted to express.....

Frank

Speaking a common sense, Frank, I am disgusted to inform readers
a this file that the newswire just reported that Jeff Dahmer has
been released on bail. The arguments were fierce and the presiding
    judge was tough...
