175.0. "NFL '91 Magazine Predictions" by BSS::G_MCINTOSH (ULTRIX NETWORKS, CSC/CS) Wed Jul 17 1991 19:16

If you have a NFL Preview type magazine, please put their predictions
    in this note.

OK. I have Don Heinrich's Pro Preview 91 (the pro football annual for
the SERIOUS fan......well, we all know now that I'm a SERIOUS FAN and
you all aren't...so there!) and here's how he predicts the upcoming NFL
season. Heinrich uses a formula called TQ and they are also listed.

I've noticed that there are no other magazine predictions in here and
that's unsatisfactory. I know you guys have them stuffed on a shelf at
your cube. Riggen, I KNOW you have one, because you told me the
Chargers are picked 3rd in the AFC West in it. So get it in here. I
want to see what other mags have to say without having to buy 2 dozen
    of them.

...more importantly, someone should figure out how the mags did on last
    years predictions first.

I've noticed that too. It's kind of like the 'what have you done for
me lately' syndrome. I'd like to hear what some of the 'experts' (most
of whom pick Denver to finish 3rd or 4th) have to say when Denver wins
the AFC West this year. ^:)

P.S. I put the smiley there, but I do honestly believe Denver will be
back at the top of the AFC West again. Remember, nobody expected them to
do anything after their mediocre season in '88, but they proceeded win
    the AFC Championship in 1989.

I recently had a reply on this topic about 2 weeks backs and it so
happens that what "SPORTS" Magazine predicted is the same thing team
that I predicted to win the Super Bowl. But who am I to say they will
win the Super Bowl, they still need a good quarterback but then again
"it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings". So here's how "SPORTS"
Magazine predicted the NFL winners for this coming season:

    NFC WEST: AFC WEST:

I can't believe that none of these magazines predict Seattle to
place better than 4th. The Seahawks finished last season very
strong, winning something like their last 5 games, and I belive
they will do pretty well this year. I'm not saying they will win
their division, but I think they will finish up there in the standings.
I think they will be 9-7 or higher.

I think most of the rags looked at the number of games that the 'Hawks won in
the last minute and figured they could have easily been losses.

With the holdouts of Fenner, john L and the continual overlooking of Krieg as
one of the best QB's in the AFC (except for fumbles) I can see why they selected
them 4th.

If they can do as well as last year I'd be happy....They just have to get rid of
Norm....
