I have all NHL team logos in GIF format sorted by division (also have
Bruins and Kings by themselves). I'm looking for NFL, NBA, and MLB
    logos for trade.

I could go for a nice .gif of old Howie crunching Elway. I'll ask
around and see if anybody knows the location of any of these types
of .gif files, or better yet if anybody has the capability of making
    them.

I grabbed the NHL logos off of Usenet. The GIFs are created with color
scanners connected to workstations. I'd create some, but my scanner is
    B&W :-(

They're GIF image files (scanned photographs of him jammin) and you need
a workstation to view them. The GIF viewers run on VMS and U*ix.

The software we're developing needs that environment.

Been learning lots of new stuff this past year too....

After working with VMS for so many years it's nice to get into the U**x
environment.

I had heard that some images don't work on the 5000 because of something
called "true color" or whatever, but I'm not sure....

>I had heard that some images don't work on the 5000 because of something

Well it depends on the GIF viewer. I have a "true color" (which really
means 24 planes) VAXstation 3540. The XV GIF viewer is the only one
    that supports 24 plane hardware.

'Saw...

I've got a U*ix program called xloadimage which will display .gif files on your
5000. I've had mine for 6 months or so and it's great. These things are
screamers. Being a true technoweenie I'm sure you'll enjoy the switch to an
operating system that lets yo do anything you want to....

Whatever you do install Motif and run it instead of the stinky decwindows that
comes with Ultrix....

I change my background every day to either 1 of the 15 or so scanned in pictures
of british roadsters or the skiing picture Mike posted (in fact I bet he got it
through a circituous route via me)...

All the ones Mike posted can be displayed on your 5000. However I didn't try
the SRV ones because I have no desire to see some dude witha goatee on my
workstation...Now if he had images of Elle MacPherson :-)

Catch the wave of the future/past.....UNIX...

XV has already seen 2 revisions since the last posting. Some of the
routines have been cleaned up and pause windows support has been added.
The saveset has also been built without the .PS files.

I can't afford the performance hit for being a repository. Besides,
the author is in New England. The new kit is at:

    GUESS::USER$B:[BARABASH]XV-2.BCK

The author requests that you copy it after 5pm EST. See
CSSE32::DW_EXAMPLES for more info, kit update announcements, help, etc.

The gateway has a FTPMAIL program for you poor VMS wienees. All you have
to do is mail a script to DECWRL::FTPMAIL. For example,

    connect cs.uwp.edu
    binary
    uuencode
    chdir /pub/music/gifs/kingsx
    get kingsx.6391.gif
    get kingsx.fhl.gif
    get kingsx.woods.gif
    quit

If you send a message to DECWRL::FTPMAIL with "help" as the only word
in the message body, you'll receive these instructions:

From: DECPA::NOBODY "ftpmail daemon on mts-gw.pa.dec.com"
    To:     fretz::heiser
    CC:
Subj: your ftpmail request has been received

I finally have a working version of XV 2.21. A tar file has been built
and is in our cluster's public area. You can copy it from:

    DESERT::SYS$PUBLIC:XV.TAR            ! 47180 blocks ( >24Mbytes)

This includes the executable, objects, and sources. I was surprised to
see that the JPEG loader wasn't any faster.

BTW - this was built under Ultrix v4.2 on a VAXstation 3540.

As for SPORTS related images, I have some available, but would
appreciate it if you set up your spool to copy after 8PM EST. Wildcard
access is disabled so setup a COM file to copy these. There are some
nice scans of Jordan in there.
