302.0. "David Meece" by BBQ::WOODWARDC (...but words can break my heart) Sun Feb 16 1997 22:04

    HMmmm...

for someone with quite an influence in CCM, I'm surprised that a topic
for Dave Meece is missing here ;')

Maybe it's all these old fogeys ;') :') oi! I resemble that remark!
    ;')

    Anyway.

The last few days I've been listening to one f his 'compilation' albums
    (CD) "Odyssey".

from the liner notes..."ODYSSEY chronicles turning points in my journey
toward knowing God more completely. Each song traces a promise from
God, wrestled out of the darkness and brought home to my heart by His
Life-sustaining power... I dedicate Odyssey to those who are wearied by
the doubts, lonliness, and pain of living in a world more adept at
    acepting evil than excpecting good."

    Song List:

God's Promises/Rainbows in the Night (featuring Canon in D by
    Pachelbel)
Falling Down (based on a Sonata by Mozart)
    Higher Ground
    One Small Child
You Can Go (featuring Bach's 2-part Invention #13 in A minor)
    Tumblin' Down
    Forgiven
    His Love was reaching
    Count the Cost
    We can overcome it all
    And you know it's right

    We are the reason
Early in the Morning (the reason I bought the album ;')

My impression? Not bad. Well produced, indeed, some of the tunes are
'over produced'; they just glide into the ears and just sort of disipate
into the mush without making a real impact :'/ But, closely listening
to the lyrics (printed in the sleeve, too) reveal a depth of emotion
and experience that at times is impressive.

Good 'background' music for work ;') Although, I wonder if 2nd Chapter
of Acts had a valid point with "Room Noise" (I think that was the
    title).

    I've seen him live before. I hear he's a classicly-trained pianist,
and also experienced some pain growing up being what is known as an
    ACOA.

I have one tape by him, I think it's called "7." There's a duet with
Twila on there called "Unknown Soldier." My favorite on there is
"Forgiven" - brings tears to my eyes.
