| For those of you familiar with the Omni but not in touch with Atlanta
news and happenings, the Omni is now in the process of being dismantled
and destroyed, and a new arena complex will be raised in it's place.
Stan Kasten, who is overseeing its development, states "Our mission is
clearly not to equal Turner Field, but to surpass it."
Kasten, who is president of both the Hawks and the Braves, states "It
will surpass in an indoor winter ersion what Turner Field is in an
outdoor summer version...It will be a come-early, stay-late kind of
thing. We will have amenities coming out of our ears."
In other news, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium seats will go on sale this
Saturday for $100/pair. There probably won't be a huge number of these
-- most stadium seats, when not bolted, would simply fall backward (due
to design) and are not up for sale. The seats being sold, if I under-
stand correctly, were from around the dugouts (and old picnic section?)
