    I have Netscape Navigator 3.0.1 Gold installed and I've installed the
    PDF Veiwer from Adobe Acrobat 3.0 (by dragging it into the Plugins
    folder) but I have problems with PDF.
    
    In the Helpers I have the Portable Document Format type mapped to the
    plugin PDFveiwer. When I click on a PDF file the plugin launches Adobe
    Acrobat, it downloads the file, then diplays "Document Done" in the
    status area at the bottom of the screen, but I never see the actual
    file. If I download the PDF file and drag the file onto the Navigator
    window the plugin launches Netscape and displays the file inside the
    Navigator window. The Navigator screen has an Acrobat tool bar in it
    too, and that never happens when I click on an acrobat file on the web.
    
    If I remap the helpers so that I have the Portable Document Format type
    mapped the Acrobat application the file is downloaded and opens inside
    Acrobat. I prefer to have the file open inside Navigator though.
    
    I'm pretty sure I have the mapping right, but it's not working
    so I'm open to suggestions. (My PDFviewer version is 1.0, dated
    11/11/1996, and it came with Acrobat Reader 3.0)

    I don't think you should have any helper mapped for PDF files -
    plug-ins are supposed to make these things transparent, and Netscape
    should just HANDLE the file as if it were a GIF or JPEG.

No, Dick, you must have portable document format mapped to the plugin.

All plugins must appear appropriately mapped in the Helpers menu.

    I checked again and there are not two entries for PDF. I'll try
    deleting it and readding it to see if that helps.
    
    I take it from the repiles then that it works for the rest of you.

    Fixed...thanks for the ideas. I deleted the entry for Portable Document
    Format and added it back int. The one I added was the same as the one I
    deleted, with one minor exception...it works! I have no idea why it
    didn't quite work before, but it works now and I'm satisfied.
