14.198memory confgns ?SNOFS1::KOOLEJOHNFri May 23 1997 00:5616
    I'm looking (belatedly) to add in more memeory to my si.

    	Right now I've got 5mb.

    I'd like to bring it up to 16mb or better.

    Some quick configuration questions :

    1. does the memory simm in each slot have to be the same size ?

    2. do i need to have a simm in each of the 4 slots ? or can I just buy
    eg 1 x 16mb simm  or 2 x 16mb sim ?

    thanks

If you've got 5 MB, you've got 1MB soldered in and 4 1MB Simms (30 pins).

According to GURU (I recommend you download this if you can)
the IIsi is upgraded 4 SIMMS at a time, all are equal.

So to get to 17MB you need 4 4MB Simms.
To get to 33MB you need 4 8MB Simms.
You can upgrade to 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 17, 33, or 65MB.

In all cases, minimum speed 100nsec.
