Ferrets are still illegal in the Golden State of California. Funny.

Two weeks ago at work I get a call from my mother at around 3:00 pm.
She's a dog lover and always saving strays and trying to find their
homes. She says that there is the most beaufil Husky type dog accross
the street, she heard that some types of huskies can be aggressive so
she called me. I said go get the leftover corned beef and see if it
will come....she was hesitant...and replied that the dog (now on her
side of the street) made her nervous because it was SO BIG. I told her
that it was probably fine, most are pretty mellow, and to call me back
when she has it. She calls a couple of minutes later, still doens't
have a leash on the dog and says that it has the most bizzare yellow
eyes that she's ever seen. Instantly I realize that she probably
dealing with a wolf hybrid and not a dog. To make a long story short
(or at least try to) she puts a leash on the animal after feeding it
    corned beef for 15 minutes.

I left work immedately and almost crapped my pants when I pulled up in
front of her house. The aminal on the end of her Yorkie's leash
dwarfed her. 130 lbs of tall and lean wolf. Nothing domestic looking
about this creature. I got out of my car and asked how the hell she
had confused that animal with a dog...

It was tagged and so I called animal control. The animal was a second
generation 95% wolf. Legal to own in the state of California. The
animal, "Rocky" couldn't walk on a leash and had absolutely no manners.
I asked animal control if it would go back to the owners, whom were
apparently undeserving of such a responsibility. They said yes.

I told her that I couldn't believe it's illegal for me to own a 2 pound
ferret in this state yet any two bit moron can go out and buy a wolf,
mismanage the animal, let it roam free where children are walking home
from school, and they were going to GIVE IT BACK! There are more than
enough Wolf Hybrid rescue organizations which would be willing to place
the animal with a competent owner. She said, "We don't write the
    laws, just follow them."

    I'm still pissed.
