797.0. "EXTRACT/SINCE not working (T1.6-007)" by UTRTSC::DORLAND (There's always one more bug!) Thu Jun 08 1995 14:07

    Hello,

    EXTRACT/SINCE does not work properly.
    I reproduced the problem on several node logfiles
    with extract T1.6-005 and T1.6-007

    The problem is as follows :

    	- EXTRACT nodename works , eg. starts displaying
    	   messages , the erliest date is 1-may (this was
    	   the last time I ARCHIVED).
    	- EXTRACT/SINCE=<any-date> always starts somewhere
    	   randomly in June

    I can reproduce this aon virtually every node I try.
    EXTRACT/BEFORE does not have this problem.

    Can you confirm this problem?

    Regards, Ton

Ton,
     run verify on the log files and see if it gives errors.

Cheers Simon....
797.2VERIFY is oke...UTRTSC::DORLANDThere's always one more bug!Thu Jun 08 1995 19:3514
    Makes no difference. Verify reports all 5 tests as passed.
    I also tried verify/repair, again no errors reported.

    I restarted PCM and still EXTRACT/SINCE fails.

    I've copied one one these node's logfiles (UTRAMP)
    to UTRTSC::DUMPS:[DORLAND} in case you're interested.

    This problem was reported to me by the customer who had those
    nasty ACCVIO's in CONSOLE EXTRACT/SINCE. It looks as if the
    fix provided for that problem (T1.6-005 if I remember correctly)
    has introduced this problem.

    We have some problems here with Decnet Ph 5. If UTRSTC does not
    work you can try UTRACK or UTRYIT instead (UTRTSC is the cluster
    alias).

Ton,
     with OPG and UTRTSC both running Phase V I doubt we will ever
talk again!!! In the words of the Prophet "Welcome to the Wonderful
world of DNS".

    So I take it you got the logfiles ?! Otherwise I can copy them
    over to you (although our cluster does not know node ZEDAR).

Ton,

  Simon got the files thanks and reproduced your problem, he is
  working on fixing it.

  Copying to ZEDAR wont do you much good, it a Windows-NT box!!!

Cheers,
Phil

Ton,
     got the files and fixed the problem. sorry about that one. The
fix will be in the final SSB kit, but a copy of the image is on:

      opg::cm$ftkit:console$extract.exe_vax
      opg::cm$ftkit:console$extract.exe_alpha

Phil is copying them now.

Cheers simon....
