Just as an FYI,

I have updated the /usr/sde/osf1/doc/kernel-build-rules to reflect the
latest version.

There are three real files with build rules from different times;
the first version was prior to modules; the second an update when
modules were added, and the third a cleanup and update to that.
The real files, all in /usr/sde/osf1/doc, are:
    kernel-build-rules.1, kernel-build-rules.2, kernel-build-rules.3

And there are symlinks to these as follows:

    old-kernel-build-rules -> kernel-build-rules.1
    new-kernel-build-rules -> kernel-build-rules.3
    kernel-build-rules -> kernel-build-rules.3

In our rengweb ode help page, these (links to .3 and .1) are listed as:

  o Current kernel build rules (MODULE support, for V4.0 and beyond) 
  o Old kernel build rules (no MODULE support, for V3.2* and older systems)
