2042.0. "I still need help with this. Can I get this directory removed?" by AOSG::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Thu Jan 11 1996 12:42

Subj: I still need help with this. Can I get this directory removed?

As per the suggestion from Jim McGinness, I used bcs -c to change the
default header leader in some of the text files in this directory.
After doing this, I was able to successfully check in a couple of
files. Unfortunately most of the files in this directory tree are of a
binary and/or graphical output format; they are not text at all, so
even the bcs -c approach to setting the history comments does not work,
unless there is some fancy string to set that I don't know about.

I'm dealing with .sdl files, which are output document files, and lots
of .tif files. Any help in handling these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Subject: I need help cleaning up a directory

I did a bcreate on a large number of files, copied the contents of a
CDE snapshot from SunSoft into the files I created, then I checked in
the files. Unfortunately, I forgot that many, even most, of the files
that I created were in BIN format, but I failed to use the -noheader
option on my bcreate.

Now I have a real mess. I cannot seem to check out and check back in
the files because of malformed headers. If I had caught this soon
enough, I could have simply done a bcreate -undo and started over. I
understand that there is an option to change the header string (-c ?),
but I'd rather just start over, as I have a procedure to create,
populate, and check in the files. I've tried using bci -defunct, and
that doesn't seem to help either.

The directory I want to wipe out of the RCS tree entirely is
/home/masinick/cde/src/doc/cde1/LearningProducts/sv_SE.ISO8859-1. Is
there a way to get everything under sv_SE.ISO8859-1 completely
removed? My sandbox is backed against ptcde.nightly, the name of the
sandbox is cde and the set is named swedish. I'd sure appreciate
getting this cleaned up because I'm under the gun to deliver this CDE
Help library before BL10 closes so we have a chance to look it over in
preBL11. Any help is greatly appeciated.

Thanks!

Subj: More shared sandbox problems

I have another interesting problem with my shared sandbox. If I do not
have a line with "replace submit_host alphanzo.zk3.dec.com" in the
sandbox's shared.sharedsandbox I can't bsubmit to the shared sandbox
(since I'm not authorized on the default submit server). However, if
this line in present in shared.sharedsandbox anyone trying to do a workon
to a sandbox backed by the shared sandbox gets:

	> setting environment variable SANDBOX to: steels0.
cd'ing to sandbox source directory: /usr/grebus/sb/steels0/src.
	starting new shell: /bin/csh.
	client read1: Error 0

NOTE: You are in your sandbox.

o This sandbox can only be used for ODE services which don't
require the ODE server (i.e. build, mklinks, etc. ).
To avoid this message use the no kerberos switch:

         	 workon -nk -sb sandbox name

So, either way, something doesn't work. Can someone please look at this
and tell me how to properly configure a shared sandbox.

Thanks,

 --- pete

| Hi,
|
| I caught JohnF in the hall and he suggested I re-run the submit
| with -odedebug cvs turned on and resend this. He thinks Grant's
| ODE helper today. Oh, Grant? I need you! Anybody?
|

Can you try just one file at a time with debug on and see what happens?
