1874.0. "dissappearing revisions" by AOSG::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Wed Oct 18 1995 13:37

On September 15th I checked out a file (ptos/src/usr/ccs/lib/libc/ctime.c). Now
when I try to check it back in I get the message:

[ could not find a "David_Long_posix" branch for file ]

[ verify that the setname you are working with, appended to your username,
matches the branch name]

When I look at my sandbox src directory I see:

% ls
.BCSconfig .BCSlog-David_Long_posix Makeconf
.BCSlock .BCSset-David_Long_posix usr

When I cat my .BCSset* file I see:

./usr/ccs/bin/lint/llib-lc.c
./usr/ccs/lib/libc/ctime.c
./usr/ccs/lib/libc/getgroup_r.c
./usr/ccs/lib/libc/getpasswd_r.c
./usr/ccs/lib/libc/rand.c
./usr/ccs/lib/libc/readdir.c
./usr/ccs/lib/libc/sysconf.c
./usr/include/dirent.h
./usr/include/grp.h
./usr/include/pwd.h
./usr/include/stdlib.h
./usr/include/time.h
./usr/include/unistd.h

Yet when I do a blog on ctime.c I see no entry for David_Long. Where'd it go?

David,

I cannot find any reference to you accessing ctime.c since Aug 95.

If you still have the correct source in your sandbox you can move
that to the side and then checkout the file and then merge your
changes in, or if it hasn't changed then you could just copy your
save ctime.c over the checked out ctime.c and then check it it.

Dave, is there any way that you may have outdated this from another
sandbox? Do you have a 'posix' set in any other sandbox? This should
be not-allowed by ode doesn't check for it yet, and it could cause
this sort of problem.

If you'd ever typed "workon posix" instead of "workon -sb posix" that
would take you into a posix set in your default sandbox; this is one
thing to look for.

Actually this is relatively likely. I did not know ODE identified revisions by
principal and set but NOT by sandbox. I believe I did have a posix set in
another sandbox that I transferred to its own "posix" sandbox. This is not a
nice "feature" of ODE.

This 'bug' has been reported. It shouldn't allow checkout in one sandbox
if the file's already in another by the same setname.

I'll check-up on this.
