1685.0. "Blaise still having problem with his sandbox after ODE upgrade..." by AOSG::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Wed Aug 16 1995 15:25

Blaise is still dead in the water. I just checked his ODE-related mounts and
they are correct. I am pretty sure it is not a mount problem. Here is the
error he gets when trying to do a workon:

spacbo.zk3.dec.com> workon
cd'ing to sandbox source directory:
/usr/users/corcoran/sandbox/gold_ref/src.
starting new shell: /bin/csh.
lookup/getenv: ag_version not found
lookupvar ag_version failed
error evaluating argument
Error parsing rc description file ../link1/rc_files/shared
Error parsing rc description file ./shared
Error parsing rc description file ./local
ERROR:get_all_hosts() parsing rc_file.
Couldn't find any server hosts. Exiting!

He is set up with a multiply-backed sandbox, that was working before the
upgrade. He has a link and a link1, and rc_files and rc_files1. This was set
up so that he could access the reference page and DFS pool from the same
sandbox. Does ODE V3.0 still support multiply-backed sandboxes? Is there
something we need to do differently in ODE V3.0 to get this to work as it used
to?

ok - i'll go over to Blaise's office to see what I can fine. I see
one clue in the mail - "link1" is mentioned - which is a sign of a
multiply-backed sandbox, which is a tricky thing - there could just
be missing mounts from this link"1"...

This mail's for the "odehelp record".

This has been fixed. The DFS pool has not yet upgraded their environment
to use ode3.0; perhaps this is the reason for the problem, but when we
disabled the multiply-backed feature (Blaise renamed rc_files/projects
aside to old_projects) the problem disappeared.
