Yakov & Dave et al, yes the pools did lock early to ensure data integrity
of the pools for the weekend backups; part of the maintenance that was done
was to split the os's "rcs" pool into two filesystems; we wanted to make
sure no data would change after the last backup, until the data was 
redistributed on two disks.

Not sure if you received a response dave, but all pools still seem to be
locked. I assme this to mean that the ode downtime scheduled for Sunday
perhaps started earlier and hasn't been finished?
