1609.0. "Missing backing trees?" by AOSG::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Tue Jul 18 1995 14:31

Subj: 	Missing backing trees?

Perhaps I missed something or am backed to the wrong place, but I
"suddenly" can't do a workon....

gillett@hackomatic.zk3::/usr/staff/gillett> workon -sb ptos_pool
>> WARNING in workon:
>> setname: Chris_Fillmore-Gillett_ptos_pool, has the following illegal character: -
cannot find include file ../link/rc_files/shared.sharedsandbox
>> FATAL ERROR in workon:
>> No Access to Backing Tree Through link dir:/share/secret/build/submits.dsk1/ptos/rc_files/../link
Error parsing rc description file ./shared
Error parsing rc description file ../link/rc_files/shared.sharedsandbox
Error parsing rc description file ./shared
Error parsing rc description file ./local
gillett@hackomatic.zk3::/usr/staff/gillett>

When I start chasing links I see the following:
gillett@hackomatic.zk3::/usr/staff/gillett> ls -al /share/secret/build/submits.dsk1/ptos/rc_files/../link
lrwxrwxrwx   1 devbld   staff         32 Jul 18 09:47 /share/secret/build/submits.dsk1/ptos/rc_files/../link -> /usr/sde/osf1/build/ptliteos.bl6
gillett@hackomatic.zk3::/usr/staff/gillett> ls -al /usr/sde/osf1/build/ptliteos.bl6
lrwxr-xr-x   1 root     staff         43 Jun 29 10:10 /usr/sde/osf1/build/ptliteos.bl6 -> /share/fbi/build/ptliteos.dsk4/ptliteos.bl6
gillett@hackomatic.zk3::/usr/staff/gillett> ls -al /share/fbi/build/ptliteos.dsk4/ptliteos.bl6
/share/fbi/build/ptliteos.dsk4/ptliteos.bl6 not found
gillett@hackomatic.zk3::/usr/staff/gillett>

So tt looks like ptliteos.dsk4/ptliteos.bl6 isn't visible to me anymore.

If I've missed something here, please point me in the right direction (no pun
intended). Otherwise, can you let me know how to proceed? It's been several
months since I've done anything w/ODE, so I'm certain I've forgotten some
things.

Thanks,
Chris

You need to do a new "odemount ptos". We just retargetted the ptos pools
to ptliteos.bl6. Mail is being sent to osf_developers as we speak.
