924.0. "odehelp: problem with kinit on v3.0" by SMURF::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Tue Aug 30 1994 17:29

Subj: odehelp: problem with kinit on v3.0

I did a v3.0 scratch install. After setting up the system I ran
/usr/sde/ode2.0/install/ode install.

When trying to get a ticket I get the following error:

	tropic.zk3.dec.com> kinit Ernest_LaBonte
	Kerberos Initialization for "Ernest_LaBonte"
	Password:
	kinit: Generic error (get_intkt)

Odemount's and my sandbox is working.

When I switch to my v2.0 disk kinit works.

Sometime back there was mail send about changing the krb.conf file, so
I have included it for your reference.

Thanks for your help.

The problem was resolved when the group codes were changed from bin to
system for the directory path /var/dss/kerberos/tkt.

But I bet you didn't run bindsetup. kerberos.zk3.dec.com is not
in the hosts map. Try doing nslookup kerberos. You should get:

cardinal ~ [21] nslookup kerberos
Server: cohort.zk3.dec.com
Address: 16.140.96.4

Name: yield.zk3.dec.com
Addresses: 16.140.0.12, 16.140.0.12, 16.140.0.12, 16.140.0.12
          16.140.0.12
Aliases: kerberos.zk3.dec.com

cardinal ~ [22]

If not the run bindsetup and then see how it works.
