After srequest figures out what I want to do and where I am, it exits.
The conversation ends like:
Your mail alias is grava@zk3.dec.com is this correct ? [y]: y
ERROR: srequest server is down, try again later
ERROR: Exiting .....

This has been going on for several days, which makes me think
the problem lurks somewhere within my system. Any thoughts?

thanks,
bill

You would get this message if your workstation could not communicate
with oskits.zk3.dec.com. The error message ought to tell you what
host the server was expected to respond from, but doesn't.

Could it be that oskits is not in your /etc/hosts file and you are
not running bind or NIS? What happens if you "ping oskits" or
"showmount -e oskits"?

Bill, can you please send me:

	- which host is serving your /usr/sde
	- output of "srequest -version"
	- `which srequest` are you using (i.e. from your path)
	- what architecture & os version are you running?

thanks...	-josh

Thanks, Jim--
Adding oskits to my /etc/hosts file seems to have done the trick.
There probably is something else wrong with my configuration, since I
didn't need that before, but I'll worry about that tomorrow.

thanks again,
bill

I'm doing an srequest in decx11. It prompts for a mail alias and presents
the list of review comittees. I select workstation_submit. It responds
like this:

      [NO_DEFAULT]: workstation_submit

Warning: Bad functional review alias element
      ddhill... User unknown

What's wrong?

The workstation_submit alias is wrong. The ddhill name should be ddhillras.

Hunh? Who is 'ddhillras'. The workstation_submit alias expands like this:

    % getalias -r workstation_submit
    workstation_submit ajs@unx.dec.com alaa@unx.dec.com berube
    ff@unx.dec.com
	    hgrd01::kcchan locus_ootb salvo sornson whatx
	    wrksys::rosenblum xtea
whatx breau ddhill haney lembree mad miller pderr snider straw
		    wwalker

The ddhill name in whatx shouldn't be changed. What exactly needs to
be changed? I don't think the workstation_submit alias has been
changed in a long time. Has there been a change in srequest?

Subj: srequest problem

I am trying to create an srequest against platinum, but I encounter the
following problem:

: This submit request will be logged against release 'pt'
:
: Is this correct ? [y]:
:
: Enter the baselevel NUMBER [2]: 6
:
: Warning: Bad baselevel NUMBER, range is [6 - 3]

It does not accept any number. My sandbox is backed against
/usr/sde/osf1/build/ptos.nightly.

Is there something wrong with the platinum tree, or is this a user
error? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pat
