345.0. "Page Breaks in RSDEFLISTs" by CLOSET::GILLIAM () Tue May 05 1987 23:26

    The documentation (User's Guide Part 2) mentions using the
    <first_valid_break> and <last_valid_break> tags to control
    page breaking in RSDEFLISTs. Aren't these tags obsolete?

    DOC$CONVERT changes the tags to <table_row_break>(first) and
    <table_row_break>(last). The tag translator generates a warning
    saying that the 07 tags should be preceded by a <TABLE> tag.

    The Field Test documentation was incorrect. The <first_valid_break>
    and <last_valid_break> tags are obsolete and are replaced by
    <table_row_break>(first) and <table_row_break>(last).

    This is fixed in the FT update version of the documentation.

    I have a note to myself to check the enablement of the
    <table_row_break> tag in <rsdeflist> and other template tables.

345.3still not valid...CLT::COLLINSparallel pythonFri Jul 17 1987 18:1310
    The <TABLE_ROW_BREAK>(FIRST) and (LAST) tags do not work within
    the context of <RSDEFLIST>, at least not on the version of Baselevel
    7 we have on the CLT cluster. This generates some rather awkward
    output for the RTL manual. In general [and this happens quite often]
    the RETURN VALUES heading appears at the bottom of one page, and
    all the return values begin at the top of the next. Is this fixed/going
    to be fixed in Baselevel 8 [or a future baselevel]?

    Thanks,

    Yes, that is fixed in V1.0.

345.5<RSDEFLIST>(\TEXT) errorTSG::WAGNERMon Aug 03 1987 19:3216
I am using <RSDEFLIST>(\TEXT) as follows:

<RSDEFLIST>(\TEXT)
This routine will return the memory address of start address. If an
error is encountered this routine will return -1.
<ENDRSDEFLIST>

My problem is that the heading and the first line of text is on the top
of one page, the second line of text is on the top of the following page,
and the text that is after this section starts on the top of the page after
that. I am using <RSDEFLIST> by itself and having no problems. Can someone
tell me is this an error with <RSDEFLIST>(\TEXT), or is there something
special that needs to be done.

Thanks,  James.

    RE: .5 - Here is an additional comment on the error I am receiving.

    I am using <RESDEFLIST>(\TEXT) in two documents. It was working
    fine in the first document and creating the error I described above
    in the second document. But I added a few lines to the first document,
    which cause the <RSDEFLIST> to start at the top of a page. Now it
    is on the top of one page (only takes up 7 lines), and the next
    section of text starts on the following page. I didn't say it before,
    but I am using 2 <RSDEFLIST> sections one after the other. The first
    is an <RSDEFLIST>(\TEXT) and the second section is a regular
    <RSDEFLIST>.

    James.
