384.0. "Footnotes as hot spots" by WORDY::STAINS () Wed Nov 07 1990 13:52

    There seems to be a problem when using a footnote for a hot spot. When
    a footnote has more than one paragraph the last paragraph is not left
    justified. It seems to begin the paragraph about three spaces to the
    left of where it should appear. I've checked through a few files and
    the problem seems to be consistent.

    What version of the online bookbuilding tools are you using, and could
    you send me one of your footnotes as an example?

    Thanks,

384.2festure not a bugOLD::UTTMary UttFri Nov 16 1990 16:5014
    As it happens, I just built a book for both online and .PS output
    (SOFTWARE.REFERENCE) that has a footnote with two paragraphs in it.
    Sure enough, the 2nd paragraph is indented -- in *both* output formats,
    consistently. This appears to be a feature, not a bug.

    My guess is that the paragraph indention occurs in hardcopy footnotes
    to conserve space. (Rather than leaving a blank line between paras,
    simply indent.) Space is not at such a premium online, so we could
    change this formatting for the Bookreader, but it's now too late for
    V2.0. Perhaps in a future version...

    Thanks,

    Mary
